1 Government says, Fit India and Khelo India Campaigns have been very successful

Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Thakur has said that the Fit India Campaign and Khelo India have been very successful. He said it was due to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the Fit India Campaign was launched and the idea was to make the youth of the country mentally and physically fit. He said this while addressing the felicitation ceremony of the Fit India Quiz, state-level winners organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in Mumbai last evening.

Mr Thakur said, 13 thousand 502 schools and 36 thousand 299 students from 626 districts participated in the Fit India Quiz. He said, the winners of the fit India quiz are the ambassadors of sports and fitness, adding that the amount of knowledge they have is not possessed by others.

2 Central Board of Secondary Education announces Class XII results

The Central Board of Secondary Education today announced Class XII results. The Pass percentage 92.71 per cent. In all, 14 lakh 35 thousand 366 students appeared in Class XII Board Examination. The pass percentage of boys is 91.25 per cent and the pass percentage of girls is 94.54 per cent. The girls have done better than boys by 3.29 per cent. The CBSE said, 30 per cent weightage was given to the first term exams and 70 per cent weightage to the second term exams. Over 33 thousand students have scored above 95 per cent and one lakh 34 thousand students scored above 90 per cent during the examination.

3 Union Cabinet approves signing of MoU in field of Judicial Cooperation between India and Maldives

The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Judicial Cooperation between India and Judicial Service Commission of Maldives.

This is the eighth MoU signed between India and other countries in the field of Judicial Cooperation. This MoU will provide a platform to tap the benefits of Information Technology for court digitization and can be a potential growth area for the IT companies and start-ups in both countries. In recent years, the close relationship between India and Maldives has intensified multi-dimensionally.

With the signing of this agreement on cooperation in the field of law and justice, the good relations between the two countries will receive further impetus.

4 SBI launches WhatsApp Banking Services to make banking easier for its customers

India’s largest public sector lender, State Bank of India has launched its WhatsApp Banking services to make banking easier for its customers. Now, SBI customers can avail certain banking services using WhatsApp, which may come in handy for many as they do not have to download the app or go to the ATM anymore. SBI customers can get their Account Balance and view Mini Statement on WhatsApp.

SBI WhatsApp Banking services will be available to customers when they send a message saying ‘Hi’ on the number 919022690226. State Bank of India will also offers WhatsApp-based services to its credit card holders through the platform under the name of SBI Card WhatsApp connect. Through this, SBI credit card customers can check their account summary, reward points, outstanding balance and make card payments.

5 Former SC judge Vineet Saran appointed BCCI ethics officer

Former Supreme Court judge Vineet Saran has taken over as the BCCI’s ethics officer and ombudsman, filling the dual posts lying vacant for a year.

Saran has succeeded Justice (Retd) D. K. Jain, whose term ended in June last year.

“Honourable Justice Saran’s appointment was made last month,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Saran, 65, is a former Chief Justice of Odisha High Court, and also served as a judge in Karnataka and Allahabad High Court.

When contacted, Saran, who calls himself a cricket lover, said: “I took charge last month, but I have not passed any order yet.”

6 Chairman Railway Board inaugurates Iconic Week Celebrations of ‘Azadi Ki Rail Gadi aur Stations’

Railway Board Chairman Vinay Kumar Tripathi inaugurated the Iconic Week Celebrations of the ‘Azadi Ki Rail Gadi aur Stations’ today in Delhi. Highlighting the importance of 75 identified stations and 27 trains in the freedom struggle, Indian Railways will organize week-long celebrations till 23rd July.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Tripathi said that as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the event ‘Azadi Ki Rail Gadi aur Stations' will be held during this week, under the overall spirit of Jan Bhagidari and Jan Andolan. He said it will showcase the convergence of the values and glories of the freedom struggle of the past with the aspirations and dreams of a young, new and iconic India.

AIR correspondent reports that 75 Railway Stations have been identified as Freedom Stations and 27 Trains for Spot Lighting. In all these 75 Stations across 24 states, events such as Nukkad Natak in local language, light and sound shows and display of video films and patriotic songs would be held.

7 Veteran singer Bhupinder Singh passes away in Mumbai

Veteran playback singer Bhupinder Singh passed away in Mumbai yesterday evening. His wife and singer Mitali Singh informed that the singer was suffering from several health complications, including urinary issues since some time. 82-year old Singh had started his career with All India Radio and he was also associated with Doordarshan Delhi. He sang scores of Bollywood numbers in his heavy bass voice. He is remembered for his memorable songs in films like "Mausam", "Satte Pe Satta", "Ahista Ahista", "Dooriyan", "Haqeeqat", and many more. Some of his famed songs are "Hoke Majboor Mujhe, Usne Bulaya Hoga", with Mohammed Rafi, Talat Mehmood, and Manna Dey, "Dil Dhoondhta Hai" and "Duki Pe Duki Ho Ya Satte Pe Satta.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed anguish on the passing away of eminent singer and musician Bhupinder Singh. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, Bhupinder Singh has given memorable songs for decades and his works struck a chord with several people. The Prime Minister said, in this sad hour, his thoughts are with the family and admirers of Bhupinder Singh Ji.

8 Ashishkumar Chauhan set to become NSE MD, CEO; Sebi clears his appointment

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has approved the appointment of Ashishkumar Chauhan as the next Managing Director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the country’s largest stock exchange.

Chauhan is currently the MD and CEO of the BSE and his tenure will end in November this year. He will join in place of Vikram Limaye whose five-year tenure ended on July 15.

Chauhan is one of the founders of the NSE where he worked from 1992 to 2000. At the NSE, he was involved in setting up India’s first fully automated screen-based trading system and first commercial satellite communications network.

10 CISCE Class 10th board examination results declared

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) declared the Class 10th result on Sunday evening. The result has been uploaded on the website of the CISCE. Students can view their result by logging on to cisce.org and results.cisce.org. Results is also available through SMS for which detail has been posted on the websites.
