| 2 | Parliament passes Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill 2022 | Parliament has passed the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill 2022 with the Rajya Sabha approving it on Wednesday. The House also rejected the amendments moved by the opposition to refer the bill to the Select Committee. As many as 59 members voted in the favour of the amendments while 97 against it. The Lok Sabha has already passed the bill. The Bill seeks to authorise taking measurements of convicts and other persons for the purposes of identification and investigation in criminal matters and to preserve records. It provides for legal sanction for taking appropriate body measurements of persons who are required to give such measurements which include finger-impressions, palm-print and foot-print impressions, photographs, iris and retina scan, physical, biological samples and their analysis among others. |

| 4 | JEE Mains 2022 schedule revised by NTA for both sessions | The National Testing Agency, NTA released a revised schedule yesterday for the conduct of Joint Entrance Exam JEE Mains 2022. The schedule has been revised for both sessions 1 and 2. The JEE Main Session 1 will now be held on 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29th of June 2022. The JEE Main Session 2 will now be held on 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30th of July 2022. NTA said, the registration for Session 1 is over and the schedule for inviting the online application forms for Session 2 will be available soon. | 10 | UGC clarifies Universities adopting CUET need to register on NTA Website | University Grants Commission (UGC) has clarified that when Universities adopt Central Universities Common Entrance Test for UG admissions, they only need to register on National Testing Agency (NTA) Website. UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar said, Universities do not have to pay fees to National Testing Agency and UGC to adopt it. He also said, there is no need to sign an MoU with NTA and UGC. Mr Kumar said, Universities can verify the scores against NTA data which will be made available to them when students submit their Central Universities Common Entrance Test scores during admission. |
