Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch Rozgar Mela - the recruitment drive for ten lakh personnel tomorrow. The drive will be launched through video conferencing. During the ceremony, appointment letters will be handed over to 75 thousand newly inducted appointees in the first tranche.

This will be a significant step forward towards fulfilling the continuous commitment of the Prime Minister to providing job opportunities for the youth and ensuring the welfare of citizens.

As per the directions of Mr Modi, all Ministries and Departments are working towards filling up existing vacancies against sanctioned posts in a mission mode.

2 Government to develop face authentication technology-based system for submission of Digital Life Certificates

Union Government is working to enhance the Ease of Living of pensioners across the country. In this direction, the several ministries together are developing a Face Authentication technology-based system.

This system will help in submission of digital life certificates by the Pensioners and Family Pensioners from any Android-based smart phone.

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has said that under the facility, the identity of a person will be established through Face Authentication technique.

3 BCCI appoints Roger Binny as new Chief; Announces holding of inaugural Women's IPL next year

The 67-year-old was elected unopposed during BCCI’s annual general meeting (AGM), which was held on Tuesday, 18 October, at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah, departing president Sourav Ganguly, treasurer Arun Dhumal and vice-president Rajeev Shukla were all present at the 91st annual general meeting of the board. With his appointment, Binny becomes the first-ever former World Cup-winning to become BCCI’s president.

Jay Shah has been re-inducted as the secretary of the board.

4 Defence Minister hosts Indian Ocean Region plus Defence Ministers’ Conclave on the sidelines of DefExpo 2022

Indian Ocean Region plus (IOR) Defence Ministers’ Conclave was hosted by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the sidelines of DefExpo 2022 in Gandhinagar today. The conclave was attended by representatives of 40 countries. The conclave aims to promote strategic and commercial partnerships within the IOR countries, in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).

The theme of the conclave was ‘Challenges Opportunities and Collaborations in the Indian Ocean.

5 PM Modi to launch Mission LiFE and participate in 10th Heads of Missions Conference at Kevadia today

On the second day of his visit to Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the 10th Heads of Missions Conference at Kevadia today. PM will launch Mission LiFE in Kevadiya in the presence of UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres. Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan has launched the draft of National Credit Framework (NCF) for public consultation.

The Government has developed it to enable the integration of academic and vocational domains to ensure flexibility and mobility between them. The Framework would be a game changer by opening numerous options for further progression of students and inter-mingling of school and higher education with vocational education and experiential learning. It will also enable students who have dropped out of mainstream education to re-enter the education ecosystem.

7 PM Modi launches Mission DefSpace in Gujarat; says Space technology of India is helping many developing countries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi begins his 2-day visit to Gujarat. On the first day of the visit, PM launched Mission DefSpace at DEFEXPO 2022 today at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. While addressing the DEFEXPO he said this Defence expo is a symbol of new beginnings. It is the first Defence expo where only Indian companies are participating with Made in India Defence products. Space technology in India is helping many developing countries. SAARC satellite is an example of this. Space technology is supporting maritime trade and activities.

AIR correspondent reports that special incentives are being offered to MSMEs involved in defence production. Technologies development fund and iDEX have spurred the R&D in defence sector. National security is the primary priority for the government.

8 Indian Railways running 211 special trains to meet festival season rush

Indian Railways is running 211 special trains for the convenience of rail travelers to meet the festival season rush. Special trains have been planned to connect major destinations like Darbhanga, Azamgarh, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Firozpur, Patna, Katihar and Amritsar. Railways has notified additional 32 special services to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for the passengers during this festive season, while 179 special services were notified earlier.

9 Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh to launch Integrated Pensioners’ Portal at Anubhav Awards Ceremony to be held New Delhi on Oct 18

Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will launch the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal - a single window to address the needs of pensioners - at the Anubhav Awards Ceremony being organised by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare in New Delhi tomorrow. The award function is being held to felicitate the awardees for their write-ups for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022.

On the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, DoPPW had launched an online platform titled ‘Anubhav’ in March 2015. It is a means for retiring employees to showcase significant achievements made during their service period. It also provides them with an opportunity to convey information related to their contribution in enhancing the effectiveness of the various government policies.

10 President Droupadi Murmu appoints Dr. Justice DY Chandrachud as new Chief Justice of India

President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Dr. Justice DY Chandrachud as the new Chief Justice of India. In a tweet today, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said, Justice Chandrachud's appointment will come into effect from 9th of next month. He will succeed present Chief Justice of India Justice Uday Umesh Lalit.

Justice DY Chandrachud would be the 50th Chief Justice of India. Born in 1959, Justice Chandrachud was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 13th May 2016. Earlier, he served as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court. He had completed his LLB from Campus Law Centre from Delhi University and obtained LLM degree and a Doctorate in Juridical Sciences from Harvard Law School in USA.
