2 DRDO carries out successful test launch of short-range ballistic missile Prithvi II off Odisha coast

The Ministry of Defence said that Defence Research and Development Organisation, DRDO, successfully carried out a training launch of a Short-Range Ballistic Missile, Prithvi-II from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the Odisha coast. It said that the Prithvi-II missile is a well-established system and has been an integral part of India’s nuclear deterrence.

The Ministry said that the missile struck its target with high accuracy. The user training launch successfully validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile.

3 RRR's super hit song Naatu Naatu wins prestigious Golden Globe award for Best Original Song

Indian film RRR's super hit song Natu Natu has won the prestigious Golden Globe award for Best Original Song. The history creating track from the director SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster movie is composed by MM Keeravani. The singers are Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj. “Naatu Naatu,” which became an anthem of sorts for the Rajamouli fans is a dance number featuring Jr NTR and Ram Charan. It created ripples for its elaborate choreography and musical storytelling.

Natu Natu left behind Taylor Swift’s “Carolina” from Where the Crawdads Sing, “Ciao Papa” from Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick, and “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, performed by Rihanna.

5 Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate Global Investors Summit in Indore today

The two-day Global Investors Summit is beginning today in Indore.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the summit. The President of Suriname Chandrika Prasad Santokhi and the President of Guyana Dr Mohammed Irfan Ali will also attend the inaugural session.

The theme of the Global Investors Summit is ‘Madhya Pradesh - a future-ready state'. Environmental protection has been taken care of in this summit which will be completely based on Carbon Neutral and Zero Waste.

6 Union Minister Jitendra Singh releases theme of National Science Day 2023

Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh released the Theme of National Science Day 2023 at a function in New Delhi on Monday. This year the theme of National Science Day is Global Science for Global Wellbeing. The theme has been chosen for the purpose of raising public appreciation of scientific issues in a global context which is having a bearing on global Well-being. National Science Day is celebrated every year on the 28th of February to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian Physicist Sir C V Raman.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Singh said, the theme of Global Science for Global Wellbeing is perfectly in sync with India assuming the Presidency of G-20, where it will become the voice of the global south.

President Droupadi Murmu will grace the valedictory session of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention and confer Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Awards today in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. She will confer Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards upon 27 overseas Indians. The award is conferred as part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention on Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian Origin, or an organization established and run by Non-Resident Indians in recognition of their outstanding achievements both in India and abroad. On the sideline of the Convention, President of Suriname, Chandrikaprasad Santokhi and President of Guyana, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali will call on President Murmu.

8 Union Home Minister Amit Shah to launch new Light and Sound show at Red Fort in Delhi today

Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the ‘Jai Hind - The New Light and Sound Show' at Red Fort in Delhi today. The show will be showcased in Hindi and English Languages. A total of seven hundred people can watch the show at one time. The Light and Sound Show in Red Fort is being started after a gap of almost five years.
 
The Ministry of Culture said, this show is a new avatar of the Sound and Light Show, in which a dramatic presentation of bravery and the history of India from the 17th century to the present day will be shown. It said, the one-hour-long Show divided into three parts will bring to life key episodes from India’s history including the rise of the Marathas, the 1857 War of Independence, the rise of the Indian National Army, and the INA trials, the fight for Independence.

9 Senior BJP leader, former West Bengal Governor Keshri Nath Tripathi passes away in Prayagraj

Senior BJP leader and former Governor of West Bengal Keshri Nath Tripathi passed away this morning. He was 88. Tripathi breathed his last at his residence in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. His last rites will be performed in Prayagraj this evening. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar condoled Tripathi's demise. 10 PM Modi to flag off world's longest river cruise 'MV Ganga Vilas' from Varanasi on January 13

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the world's longest river cruise 'MV Ganga Vilas' from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on 13th of January. The luxury cruise will cover a distance of more than 3,200 kilometers across 27 river systems in five States in India and Bangladesh. The MV Ganga Vilas cruise is curated to bring out the best of the country to be showcased to the world. The 51 days cruise is planned with visits to 50 tourist spots including World Heritage Sights, National Parks, river Ghats, and major cities like Patna in Bihar, Sahibganj in Jharkhand, Kolkata in West Bengal, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Guwahati in Assam. The MV Ganga Vilas vessel is 62 meters in length, 12 meters in width. It has three decks, 18 suites on board with a capacity of 36 tourists, with all the amenities to provide a memorable and luxurious experience for the tourists. The ship is equipped with pollution-free mechanisms and noise control technologies. The maiden voyage of MV Ganga Vilas will witness 32 tourists from Switzerland relishing the Varanasi to Dibrugarh journey. The expected date of arrival of MV Ganga Vilas in Dibrugarh is on 1st of March, 2023.
