1 SAIL crosses ten crore rupees Procurement Value on GeM portal

Steel Authority of India Limited, SAIL has crossed ten crore rupees in Procurement Value on Government-e-Marketplace (GeM). The Ministry of Steel said that SAIL became the first Central Public Sector Enterprise, CPSE to achieve the major milestone of procurement through the GeM since its inception.

The Ministry said that SAIL started from an amount of twenty crore seven lakh rupees in the financial year of 2018-19, Which has crossed the total value of ten crore rupees this year. It said, SAIL was also the largest CPSE procurer on GeM in the previous Financial Year with a value of over forty-six hundred Crore rupees.

2 Indian Railways to launch month-long mega safety drive from tomorrow

Indian  Railways will launch a month-long mega safety drive from tomorrow as safety continues to be its foremost priority.  Ministry of Railways has directed Zonal Railways to launch the safety drive to remove any gaps in the maintenance of fixed assets, locomotives and rolling stock and strengthen safety in Railways. During the drive, it will be ensured that extant procedures are being conformed and monitoring of Human Factors shall be done.

Railway Board has directed all Zonal Railways to ensure that officers in Headquarters and Divisions carry out thorough inspections and ensure the correction of deficiencies found during inspections. It said, at least one Headquarter officer must be on inspection on each day during the drive in each Division. Also, each major section of each division must be under Night Foot Plate Inspection by an Officer.

3 Envoys of Five Nations present credentials to President Droupadi Murmu

Envoys of Five Nations presented their credentials to President Droupadi Murmu today. Mrs Murmu accepted credentials from High Commissioner of Uganda and Ambassadors of Vietnam, Iran, Sweden, and Belgium at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Those who presented their credentials were Ms. Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda, High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda, Mr Nguyen Thanh Hai, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Dr Iraj Elahi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Jan Thesleff, Ambassador of Sweden and Mr Didier Vanderhasselt, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium.

4 Ministry of Jal Shakti announces winner of 'Water Heroes: Share Your Stories’ contest for the month of September

Ministry of Jal Shakti today has announced the winner of the 'Water Heroes: Share Your Stories’ contest for the last month. Ms. Anamika Tiwari has been announced as the winner and she will get a cash prize of ten thousand rupees and a certificate.

The Ministry said that Ms. Tiwari belongs to a school and is making an effort to teach students about the importance of water conservation with the help of drama.

The Ministry said that the aim of the contest is to create awareness for water conservation by enhancing knowledge and sharing experiences of water heroes, and to create an attitude towards water conservation and management so that a behavioural change can be created amongst all stakeholders.

5 Two more Indian Beaches enter the coveted list of Blue Beaches, says Environment Ministry

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said that two more Indian Beaches have entered the coveted list of Blue Beaches. After this, India now has 12 Blue Flag beaches, an eco-label given to the cleanest beaches in the world.

Announcing the proud moment in a tweet today, Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav expressed happiness and congratulated countrymen.

He stated that it is a part of the country's relentless journey towards building a sustainable environment led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that Blue Beaches give a sense of pride to the community and attract tourism.

7 ISRO plans to launch Chandrayaan-3, its third mission to moon, in June next year

Indian Space Research Organisation plans to launch Chandrayaan-3, its third mission to the moon, in June next year with a more robust lunar rover onboard which is crucial for future inter-planetary explorations.

The space agency has also lined up the first test flight of the 'abort mission' for Gaganyaan, the country's first human spaceflight, early next year.

ISRO Chairman S Somnath said that Chandrayaan-3 (C-3) launch will be in June next year onboard the Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3). He said, ISRO plans to fly Indian astronauts into orbit by the end of 2024 after carrying out successful abort missions and uncrewed test flights.

8 Central Teacher Eligibility Test to be held in online mode in December and January

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said that the 16th edition of Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will be conducted in Online mode between December this year to January next year.

The exact date of examination will be mentioned on the admit cards of the candidates.

In a press release, CBSE stated that online application process will start from 31st of this month onwards and the last date for submitting online applications is 24th of next month.

Union Education Ministry will organise 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam' - a month-long programme from 16th of next month - to rediscover the centuries-old bond of knowledge and ancient civilisational linakage between Varanasi and Tamilnadu.

Addressing media about this programme in New Delhi, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed that over 2400 tamil people in 12 groups from diverse sections of society, including acedemics, spiritualism, philosophy, trade and commerce, agriculture, entrepreneurship, arts and artisanship will visit Kashi for eight days to get familiarised with the ancient knowledge shared by these two ancient cities.

10 PM Modi to launch Rozgar Mela -recruitment drive for ten lakh personnel on October 22
