2 Lok Sabha passes Bill to include Himachal Pradesh’s Hattee community in the list of Scheduled Tribes

The Lok Sabha on Friday passed the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Third Amendment) Bill, 2022. The Bill will amend the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950, for inclusion of Hattee community of Trans Giri area of Sirmour, in the list of Scheduled Tribes in relation to the State of Himachal Pradesh.

Replying to the discussion, Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda said, inclusion of Hattee community to the Scheduled Tribes list gets them long pending justice. He said, the border sharing people from four blocks of Tran Giri of Himachal Pradesh have their relatives identified as Scheduled Tribes in Uttarakhand. Responding to the members, he said it is the responsibility of respective Governments to ensure no tribal land alienation takes place in their States. He also listed the number of initiatives the Tribal Affairs ministry has taken up in the field of health and education in tribal dominant areas.

3 CUET UG 2023: Registration process to start in February's first week

The application process for the Common University Entrance Test for Graduation, CUET-UG, to be conducted between the 21st and 31st of May, will start in the first week of February next year.

Chairman of University Grants Commission M Jagadesh Kumar informed that the number of subjects and pattern of question papers will remain the same. He said, a candidate can take as many as 6 Domain subjects in addition to one or two languages and the General Test.

4 India will soon launch E-20 fuel with 20% blending of ethanol, says Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said that India is confident of forming a bio-fuel alliance with other countries.

Addressing a curtain raiser press conference on India’s flagship Energy Event, India Energy Week 2023 in Bengaluru yesterday, the minister announced that India will soon launch E-20 fuel with 20 percent blending of ethanol as by 2025 the ethanol production in the country would reach 1000 crore litres.

5 Registration process for Joint Entrance Examination (Main) - 2023 starts today

The registration process for Joint Entrance Examination (Main) - 2023 started today. Candidates can apply online through the official site of National Testing Agency JEE at
jeemain.nta.nic.in
. It will close on 12th January next year. The JEE (Main) comprises two papers. The 1st session is in January and the second session in April 2023.

It will be conducted in 13 languages. These are English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The examination will be conducted on 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31st January next year.

7 ISRO successfully launches 177 foreign satellites for 19 countries in five years

Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO successfully launched one hundred seventy-seven foreign satellites belonging to 19 countries through its commercial arms in the last five years.

These countries include Australia, Brazil, France, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, United Kingdom, and USA. Atomic Energy and Space Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha yesterday. Dr Singh informed that foreign exchange generated through launching of these satellites is approximately 94 million US dollars. He said, government has taken several steps to strengthen space programme and take it to greater heights.

8 India successfully carries out night trials of nuclear-capable ''Agni-five missile''

India has successfully conducted night trials of nuclear-capable ballistic missile Agni V, capable of striking targets at ranges up to 5,000 kilometers with very high degree of accuracy. The missile test firing was conducted from APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast at around 5.30 pm yesterday. This was the latest test in the Agni missile series. According to defence sources, the test was carried out to validate new technologies and equipment on the missile that are now lighter than before.

9 Nation celebrates Vijay Diwas today to mark victory of 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War

The Nation is celebrating Vijay Diwas today to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation war. On this day, the sacrifice of war heroes is remembered and rich tributes are being paid to them. On 16th December 1971, the chief of the Pakistani forces, General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, along with 93 thousand troops, surrendered unconditionally to the allied forces led by Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Aurora, in Dhaka after their defeat. The end of the war resulted in the freedom of Bangladesh.

President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Army Chief General Manoj Pande attended the At Home reception at Army House on the eve of Vijay Diwas.

10 SURYA KIRAN: 16th Edition of Indo-Nepal joint army training exercise begins

The 16th Edition of Indo-Nepal joint army training exercise begins today. The exercise “SURYA KIRAN” will be conducted at Nepal Army Battle School, Saljhandi, and continue up to 29 December 2022. It is conducted annually between India and Nepal with the aim to enhance inter-operability in jungle warfare and counter-terrorism operations in mountainous terrain and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) under UN mandate. Nepal Army soldiers of Shree Bhawani Baksh Battalion and Indian Army soldiers from the 5 GR are participating in the exercise.
