1 Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan & Ashwini Vaishnaw to lunch 5G service in Odisha

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Communications, IT, and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will lunch the 5G service in Odisha today, January 5. 

It will be rolled out in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack from a special program in the capital Bhubaneswar in the forenoon. According to information, in order to provide 5G telecom service to consumers, Reliance Jio and Airtel have set up about five hundred Base Transceiver Stations, BTS in various cities and towns across the state.

2 India & France to hold 36th strategic dialogue in New Delhi

India and France will hold the 36th Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi today, January 5. The two sides will hold discussions on wide-ranging bilateral and global issues. 

National Security Advisor  Ajit Doval will lead the Indian delegation while the French delegation will be led by Diplomatic Advisor to the French President, Mr. Emmanuel Bonne.  Mr. Bonne will also call on other Indian dignitaries. 

The last edition of the Strategic Dialogue was held in November 2021 in Paris.

4 Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award: Guyana President, NRI who held langar for farmers on stir among awardees

Guyana’s President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, US-based businessman Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, and DSB Group CEO Piyush Gupta are among 21 recipients of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA), announced on Monday.

Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award is the highest honour conferred on overseas Indians during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention, which will be held this time between January 8 and 10 in Indore.

Irfaan Ali, 42, who was sworn in as the ninth President of Guyana in August 2020, belongs to an Indo-Guyanese Muslim family. He will also be the chief guest at the convention, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

6 Second phase of Sari Festival “VIRAASAT” Celebrating 75 handwoven Saris of India to begin tomorrow in New Delhi

The second phase of the Sari Festival “VIRAASAT”- Celebrating 75 handwoven Saris of India will begin from tomorrow to 17th of this month in New Delhi. This phase being organized by Ministry of Textiles will start at 11 AM and will close at 8 PM on daily basis.

The second phase, having 90 participants from different parts of the country, will bring participation of famous handcrafted varieties of Saris like Tie and Dye, Chikan embroidered Saris, Hand Block Saris, Kalamkari printed Saris, Ajrakh, Kantha and Phulkari.  The first phase of “VIRAASAT”- started on 16th and concluded on 30th of last month.

7 Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurates Incubation Centre at National Research Development Corporation

Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh has inaugurated the Incubation Centre at the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) in New Delhi. The  Centre will provide multi-pronged support to StartUps. Dr Singh noted that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of 'StartUp India, NRDC had reoriented itself to become the only National level PSU, which is providing its services for taking the lab scale technologies developed by Public Funded Research Institutes to industry.

8 Number of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras crosses 9,000

Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya today, December 31, said that the number of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras has crossed 9,000 (Nine thousand) in the country.

In a tweet, the Minister said, these centers were started with the goal of providing cheap and good medicine to the people. He added that today, these centers are proving benefits to lakhs of people in every district of the country.

Jan Aushadhi Scheme’ was launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, in November 2008. To give further impetus to the scheme, it was again renamed as ‘Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana’ (PMBJP) in 2016.

Anil Kumar Lahoti has taken over the charge of new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Railway Board. The appointments committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Anil Kumar Lahoti. Prior to this, Mr. Lahoti has worked as Member (Infrastructure), Railway Board. During his more than 36 years of career in railways, he has worked in various capacities over Central, Northern, North Central, Western and West Central Railways and in Railway Board.

10 2023 Science Vision will define India in 2047: MoS for Science & Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh

Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh has stressed on research related to science and technology reaching the local level to make the country a global hub of research and innovation during this Amrit Kaal. Briefing the media today in New Delhi Dr. Singh said that 2023 Science Vision will define India in 2047. The Minister also encouraged the citizens to think out-of-the box and said the future belongs to those with innovative ideas. He also discussed several outlines set by various science and technology departments for this year and said Indian Space Research Organisation is focusing on “Gaganyan'' program which will land an Indian on the surface of the Moon.
