The Central government has appointed two new Supreme Court judges, taking the top court's strength to full. 

In a tweet, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the development and said two high court chief justices were on Friday elevated to the Supreme Court, bringing the total strength of the Apex Court to its maximum of 34 judges.

2 3rd edition of Khelo India National Winter Games begins at Gulmarg

he 3rd edition of the Khelo India National Winter Games began at Gulmarg yesterday, February 10, with a message by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the participating players.

The mega sports event was declared open in the presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur.

During the biggest winter sports tournament, more than 1500 Athletes from all over the country will compete in 11 different winter sports disciplines. Union Sports Minister, Shri Anurag Thakur lauded the J&K Government for developing sports facilities at the grassroots level and achieving unprecedented progress in the sports sector in a short span of time.

3 PM Modi pays homage to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his death anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today, February 11, paid homage to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his death anniversary. 

In a tweet, Mr Modi said the nation will never forget his efforts for national progress and serving the poor. He said, Inspired by his vision, India is working round the clock to ensure the fruits of development reach the marginalised and the downtrodden.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya was the leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh from 1953 to 1968. He was born on the 15th of September, 1916, in the sacred region of Brij of the village Nagla Chandraban in Mathura.

4 Aero India 2023: DRDO to display wide range of indigenously-developed products and technologies

The 14th Aero India event will be held in Bengaluru between 13th and 17th of this month. The event has been planned by Defence Research and Development Organisation, DRDO, in which participants and stakeholders can witness enriching experiences of indigenous Defence technologies and systems. The 14th Aero India will aim at integrating various stakeholders of Defence research and development ecosystem in the country.

In the event, DRDO will display a wide range of indigenously-developed products and technologies. It will provide numerous exhibits, flight displays and seminars, besides displaying its flagship products at the India Pavilion. This will include a display of products on Aeronautical Systems, Missiles, Armaments, Electronics, Micro Electronic Devices and Computational Systems, Soldier Support Technologies, Life-sciences, and Naval and Material Science amongst others. The display will showcase the recent advancements made by DRDO in furthering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.

5 Union Minister Giriraj Singh inaugurates Mission Antyodaya Survey 2022-23 in New Delhi

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh have said Mission Antyodaya Survey will ultimately succeed in realizing the dream of a poverty-free India. He was speaking after inaugurating the Mission Antyodaya Survey - 2022-23, including launching of its portal and mobile application at a function in New Delhi today.

Mr Singh said, the Mission will ensure the effective utilization of resources through a convergence of various government schemes for sustainable livelihood for each marginalized household. He said, this has been done to underline the philosophy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of whole of government approach.

6 India’s national accreditation system ranked 5th in the world

India’s national accreditation system under the Quality Council of India (QCI) has been ranked 5th in the world in the recent Global Quality Infrastructure Index (GQII) 2021. The GQII ranks the 184 economies in the world on the basis of quality infrastructure (QI).

India’s overall QI system ranking continues to be in the Top 10 at the 10th position.Ministry of Commerce and Industry in a statement said that the GQII rankings are published and presented post-facto for each year based on the data collected till the end of that year. The 2021 rankings are based on data till the end of December 2021, collected and analyzed through 2022.

9 ISRO successfully launches second developmental flight of SSLV-D2 from Sriharikota

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the second developmental flight of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D2) from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh this morning. The launch took place at 9.18 am. The SSLV-D2 successfully put into their intended orbit Earth Observation Satellite, Janus-1 and Chennai-based space startup SpaceKidz's AzaadiSAT-2.

The 34-metre tall SSLV-D2 weighing 120 ton took off from the first launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre. The three staged SSLV-D2 powered by solid fuel also has a velocity trimming module powered by liquid fuel for precise injection of satellites.
