2 Preparations underway at Kargil War Memorial ahead of 24th Vijay Diwas

Preparations are in full swing for the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas at Kargil War Memorial at Dras in Ladakh. Some jawans were seen painting the inscribed on an information plate on 75/24 Pack Howitzer. One of the tourists, Vishal, said that he feels proud to be a part of a country where soldiers sacrifice their lives for their countrymen.

"I feel the bravery our soldiers showed by sacrificing their lives 24 years back. They fought for our future. We feel proud that we are part of a country where soldiers sacrifice their lives for their countrymen," he said. Another tourist, Mamata Tyagi said, "I had the good fortune to be here on Kargil Diwas. I am feeling proud that our soldiers sacrificed their lives for the country. My son is also in this field. I feel proud."

8 The first GSI survey of the Siachen

While everyone is familiar with the grid reference point NJ 9842 as it is the last mutually demarcated point between India and Pakistan as per the Karachi ceasefire agreement of 1949 and also the point where the Line of Control of the Simla Agreement ends, not many people are familiar with what 5Q 131 05 084 stands for. This is the number assigned to the Siachen glacier by the Geological Survey of India (GSI).

June-August 2023 marks the sapphire jubilee of a very important event in the history of the exploration of the Siachen glacier. Unfortunately barring B. G. Verghese, most of the scholars who have written on this subject as well as mountaineers of repute who have documented all the visits to this part of the world, have failed to record and give this event its due importance.

9 India's third moon mission, Chandrayaan-3 launched successfully from Sathish Dhawan Space Centre Sriharikota

The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched LVM3 M 4 rocket carrying Chandrayaan 3 at 2.35 PM from the second launch pad of India's spaceport at Sriharikota. 

Akashvani Correspondent reports that India's mission to the Moon was witnessed by a variety of spectators at the Sathish Dhawan Space Centre. It was a momentous occasion for hundreds of school students and people of all ages who had gathered at the venue outside the ISRO campus to see the historical achievement. More than 200 media personnel who assembled at the terrace of the media centre cheered even as the heavy weight vehicle LVM 3 M4 rocket soared into the clear blue sky. Guests including minister Dr Jitendra Singh congratulated and changed pleasantries even as the rocket blasted off. Scientists at ISRO said that it was a penance to them to have a successful moon mission. The mission is not complete for another thirty days till the rover lands on the moon. With yet another landmark achievement India has strengthened its position as a global player in the space industry.
