1 Researchers activate world’s tiniest coin-sized particle accelerator

Researchers have successfully activated the world's smallest particle accelerator which could revolutionize various applications, including the potential for miniature particle accelerators to be employed in medical treatments.

According to Space.com, the newly developed machine, known as a nanophotonic electron accelerator(NEA), is a miniature technological marvel approximately the size of a small coin.

This tiny accelerator relies on a small microchip housing a vacuum tube made up of thousands of individual "pillars." The process involves the acceleration of electrons by directing miniature laser beams at these pillars, marking a departure from traditional particle accelerator technology.

2 Malayalam actor Renjusha Menon found dead

Malayalam actress Renjusha Menon was found dead at her apartment in Srikaryam, Thiruvananthapuram, several reports claimed on Monday. According to Hindustan Times Telugu, the 35-year-old actor was found hanging at the flat that she shared with her husband Manoj.

According to the report, police initially confirmed that she died by suicide. The actress was reportedly going through financial troubles. Her body will be taken for autopsy later, NDTV reported.

3 Former President Ram Nath Kovind to deliver Akashvani's prestigious annual Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture

Akashvani will broadcast its annual prestigious Edition of the Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture on Tuesday. Former President Ram Nath Kovind will deliver this year's address.

The lecture will be broadcast on the occasion of Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary tomorrow between 9.30-10 pm across the entire network of Akashvani. Listeners can also tune into Akashvani's channels GOLD, Rainbow, Indraprastha and airlivenews 24X7. The lecture will also be available on other social media platforms.

Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture is organised by Akashvani in memory of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, a great visionary who had National cohesion uppermost in his mind. It has been an honoured tradition since 1955 wherein, eminent personalities like C.Rajgopalachari, Dr. Zakir Hussain, Moraraji Desai, Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Jayant Narlikar, M.S.Swaminathan, Arun Jaitley, Ajit Doval and S.Jaishankar have been among those who delivered this prestigious memorial lecture in the past on wide-ranging subjects on India and its socio-economic strides. The birth anniversary of Sardar Patel is also known as the National Unity Day.

5 National Games: Jyothi Yarraji clinches 100m hurdles gold in record time

Hangzhou Asian Games silver medallist Jyothi Yarraji and Tejas Shirse smashed the National Games records on way to winning gold medals in 100m and 110m hurdles in athletics competitions here on Monday.

At the 37th National Games here, Jyothi finished the race in 13.22s to improve upon her own mark, while Tejas, who had clocked 13.80s to rewrite the Games record in the morning, improved his timing further by winning the final in 13.71s.

Maharashtra are leading the medals tally with 47 gold, 34 silver and 33 bronze followed by Haryana with 18 gold, 15 silver and 17 bronze.

Last edition's champions Services are third with 17 gold, nine silver and seven bronze.

6 Angad Bedi wins gold medal in sprinting tournament

Actor Angad Bedi recently bagged a gold medal in the 400-metre race at the prestigious Open International Masters 2023 Athletics Championship held in Dubai.

It was not easy for Angad to participate in the event as he is currently struggling with the loss of his father and legendary cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi.

In an Instagram post, Angad dropped a video of himself from the tournament and shared how his late father's never-give-up attitude pushed him to go for it.

7 Exercise Harimau Shakti-2023 strengthens military synergy between India, Malaysia

In a testament to their ongoing defence cooperation, the Indian and Malaysian armies have initiated "Exercise Harimau Shakti 2023."

This joint bilateral training exercise, held at Umroi Cantonment in India, aims to strengthen military capabilities and enhance the synergy between the two nations.

According to an official release from the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Defence, Guwahati, "Ex HARIMAU SHAKTI-2023, a joint exercise between India and Malaysia, is progressing with full steam, covering the vast canvas of multi-domain OP in sub-conventional environment."

8 Ministry of Tourism participates in International Travel Exhibitions Asia, Singapore from 25 - 27 October 2023

9 Riyan Parag becomes 1st cricketer to score 6 back-to-back half-centuries in T20s

Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag has become the first cricketer to smash six back-to-back half-centuries in T20s. Parag has been in sensational form in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023.

Parag scored an unbeaten 57 off 33 balls to set a new T20 record. Parag’s innings helped Assam beat Kerala in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in Mumbai.

Parag has scored half-centuries against Bihar, Services, Sikkim, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh before smashing the record-breaking fifty against Kerela in the 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

10 India unlikely to join global cooling pledge at COP28

India is unlikely to sign onto a global pledge to reduce cooling-related emissions at the COP28 climate meeting, citing the need for the world's most populous country to have affordable cooling, two government officials told Reuters.

The pledge to cut cooling-related carbon dioxide emissions by at least 68% by 2050 compared with 2022 levels was developed by the United Nations Environment Programme's Cool Coalition and COP28 host the United Arab Emirates. The pledge would require major investments by countries to shift to sustainable cooling technologies and also raise the cost of such products.

It is expected nations will announce their decision on the cooling pledge at the annual climate conference in Dubai from November 30 to December 12.
