1 Aditi Gopichand bags bronze in compound archery women’s individual event

Indian archer Aditi Gopichand Swami came up with a stellar performance in the women’s compound archery women’s individual event to clinch the bronze medal at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou on Saturday.

Gopichand defeated Indonesia’s Ratih Zilizati Fadhly 146-140 to secure the bronze medal in the compound archery event, bringing India a step closer to taking its medal count in this Asiad past 100.

Aditi dominated the game from the very first set while the Indonesian trailed and eventually fell out of medal contention.

Aditi maintained consistency and scored 29 points in the first three sets. In the fourth game, she bagged 30 points and followed it up with a score of 29 in the last set.

2 RBI proposes to include beneficiaries of PM Vishwakarma Scheme under Payments Infrastructure Development Fund Scheme

The Reserve Bank has proposed to include the beneficiaries of @RBI under the Payments Infrastructure Development Fund - PIDF Scheme.

In a statement regarding various developmental and regulatory policy measures issued from Mumbai today, RBI said the decision is expected to give a fillip to its efforts towards promoting digital transactions at the grassroots level.

The Reserve Bank has further proposed to extend the PIDF Scheme by a further period of two years, i.e., up to December 31, 2025. It may be recalled that the scheme was operationalized in January 2021 for a period of three years with an aim to incentivize the deployment of payment acceptance infrastructure such as physical Point of Sale (PoS), Quick Response (QR) codes in tier-3 to tier-6 centres, northeastern states and Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. RBI has informed that over 2.66 crore new touchpoints have been deployed under the Scheme till August 2023.

3 Prez Droupadi Murmu to inaugurate International Research Conference on Just and Resilient Agri-Food Systems in New Delhi

President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the International Research Conference on Just and Resilient Agri-Food Systems to be organized from 9th October to 12th October in New Delhi. Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Gender Platform are going to host the four-day conference which is titled From Research to Impact- Towards Just and Resilient Agri-food Systems.

Briefing media about the conference today, Director General of ICAR, Dr Himanshu Pathak said that the conference, and its theme, are significant in the wake of the recent G20 Summit that unequivocally endorsed women-led development.

4 ASI plans to establish gift shops to generate interest and promotion of heritage monument

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is planning to establish gift shops in its monuments. It will create an opportunity for the cultural and creative industries to work closely with the monuments. The ASI intends to leverage souvenirs to generate interest and promotion of heritage monuments.

It has released an Expression of Interest on its website to enhance interest and recognition of Indian cultural crafts and heritage leading to their conservation, development, and sustaining the livelihood of the associated artisans and their communities. An entire list of 84 monuments is available on the Expression of Interest.

6 Amit Shah to visit Uttarakhand to preside over meeting of Central Regional Council

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah is all set for a day's visit to Uttarakhand today. During his stay, he will be presiding over the 24th meeting of the Central Regional Council at Narendra Nagar in Tehri district. The meeting is likely to be attended by the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, arrived yesterday to attend the meeting.

Later on, the Home Minister will also be participating in the 49th All India Police Science Congress, which is being held at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in the State capital of Dehradun. The Congress will focus on policing in the 5G era, narcotics, internal security, social media challenges, and community policing. It is being organised under the aegis of the Police Research and Development Bureau.

7 Aman Sehrawat won bronze medal in men's 57kg category

Aman Sehrawat secured a bronze medal for India in the men's freestyle wrestling 57kg category at Asian Games 2023. Sehrawat beat local favorite Liu Minghu by 11-0 in Hangzhou to win the 93rd medal for India at the continental meet this year.

In case you didn't know, Aman Sehrawat is the U-23 world champion. Aged 16, he became the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the U-23 World Wrestling Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, last year. He also won a silver medal at the U-20 World Wrestling Championships.

8 Asian Games 2023, HS Prannoy wins bronze in men’s singles event

India’s H.S. Prannoy clinched bronze after going down against China’s Li Shifeng in the badminton men’s singles semifinal at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou on Friday.

After going into the first game break trailing 10-11, World No.1 Shifeng cruised through the contest as he won 21-16. 21-9 in just over 45 minutes.

Prannoy’s bronze takes India’s medal tally to 88, solidifying the fourth spot in the medal standings with 21 gold, 32 silver and 35 bronze medals.

9 Services Sector Activity In India Touches 13-Year High In Sep On Strong Demand

The services sector growth in India rose to a 13-year high in September on sharp increase in new business amid strong demand conditions, and job numbers continued to increase as overall business mood improved, a monthly survey said on Thursday.

The seasonally adjusted S&P Global India Services PMI Business Activity Index rose from 60.1 in August to 61 in September, signalling a sharp upturn in output.

In Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) parlance, a print above 50 means expansion while a score below 50 denotes contraction.

10 Second edition of The Himalayan Film Festival concludes; short films 'Taar', 'Thigspa' win big

Short films 'Taar', 'Thigspa' (Last Drop), 'Memoria' and 'Nyoli' emerged as the winners at the second edition of The Himalayan Film Festival (THFF). The five-day event, which aims to promote filmmakers from the Himalayan region, concluded at the Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra in Leh, Ladakh on Tuesday night.

Whereas 'Taar', by Tsering Lhanzes, was named the winner, 'Thigspa' (Last Drop), directed by Tsering Wangdus Lonpo and Tashi Dawa, was named the first runner-up.
