The 5th and the concluding event of the ‘Women and Water Dialogue Series’ was organised on 11th October 2023 at the Boat Club House in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The ‘Women and Water Dialogue Series’ is a programme started during the Ganga Utsav 2022 to highlight the pivotal role of women in the water sector. The 4 events of this series were held in Varanasi, Kanpur, New Delhi and Rishikesh. The 5th and the concluding event coincided with the International Day of the Girl Child and was presided over by Director General, National Mission for Clean Ganga Mr. G. Asok Kumar. Other participants included Ms. Laura Sustersic, Programme Director at SGR, GIZ, Ms. Saumya Pandey, Additional Labour Commissioner, Kanpur, Dr. Swayamprabha Das from Development Alternatives, Ms. Suparna Debroy, woman entrepreneur, Ms. Shipra Pathak from Panchtatva and representatives from SMCGs, District Ganga Committees, district-level authorities, local communities, including women. The closing session also featured a musical program titled 'Nadi aur Nari'.

Addressing the audience on 'Gender Inclusion – Government Interventions’, Shri Kumar emphasized the pivotal role of the girl child in shaping the future. He stressed the importance of building a strong foundation for them, empowering them to become a potent force in the future. He also commended the well-timed choice of this day and extended his congratulations to GIZ for their remarkable Women and Water Dialogue program. “The Women and Water Dialogue covered all important towns along Ganga including Varanasi, Kanpur, Delhi, Rishikesh. All programmes were linked to one or the other important day which is helps in connecting with the people,” Shri Kumar added.

Centre has approved seven bridge projects worth 118 Crore 50 lakh rupees in Arunachal Pradesh under the Setu Bandhan Scheme.

Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that these projects will enhance connectivity and boost economic growth across all sectors. He added that the projects align with the Nation’s commitment to improve the overall quality of life and promote the socio-economic growth of Arunachal Pradesh.

The approved bridges are four Reinforced Cement Concrete bridges, Three bridges on National Highway 313, and one Steel Composite bridge.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach is heading the meeting of the Executive Board of the IOC that started at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on Thursday.

Following the end of the Executive Board meeting, the 141st IOC session is slated to be organised from October 15 to 17. Bach started his address at the IOC Executive Board by saying that India's Olympic spirit is growing. IOC member and Reliance Foundation’s founder chairperson Nita Ambani was also praised for her contribution towards making India a sporting nation.

The 20th round of India-China Corps Commander Level Meeting was held at Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on the Indian side on 9th and 10th of this month. The two sides exchanged views in a frank, open, and constructive manner for an early and mutually acceptable resolution of the remaining issues along the LAC in the Western Sector in accordance with the guidance provided by the national leadership of the two countries.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh conducted the 5th Annual Defence Dialogue with French Minister of Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu in Paris yesterday, before concluding his two-nation Europe tour. The two Ministers discussed a wide range of topics from the assessment of the regional situation to the ongoing military-to-military engagements, with a focus on enhancing defence-industrial cooperation. Defence Ministry said, the Ministers reviewed the ongoing defence projects and discussed ways to deepen the collaboration between the defence industries of both the countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of various development projects worth 4200 crore rupees at Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand this Afternoon. Addressing a public gathering on the occasion, he said, the development of border areas is the priority of the Central Government. The second spaceport of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), which will be dedicated exclusively for Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs) developed by the private sector, will come up in about two years at Kulasekarapattinam in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.

On October 10, Dr. Pawan Goenka, chairman, Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) said, “We are developing a full launch centre in Thoothukudi district, which will be dedicated for SSLV launches. Right now, about 2,000 acres has been acquired and handed over to ISRO. The project team is in place, the budget has been defined, the planning has been done, and we will be taking off in about two years from now.”
