1 CM Sarma inaugurates Assam State Film Finance and Development Corporation's cinema hall, 'Aideo'

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation's (ASFFDC) cinema hall called 'Aideo' in Guwahati on Monday.

CM Sarma also released the National Award-winning film 'Anunad: The Resonance'.

In its Golden Jubilee Year, ASFFDC has taken up the construction of five new halls and the renovation of nine existing ones.

It has also extended assistance to 56 regional language film makers and helped 239 artists through its Artist Welfare Corpus Fund.

2 NIT Raipur professor develops 'Fault Tolerant Inverter' to ensure smooth supply of solar power

A professor at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur and his team have developed a 'Fault Tolerant Inverter' to deal with faults during the supply of electricity.

Lalit Sahu, Assistant Professor in the Electrical Department at NIT Raipur, has developed a 'Fault Tolerant Inverter' so that electricity generated through solar panels could be used for residential as well as industrial purposes without interruption.

Shedding details about the 'Fault Tolerant Inverter', Assistant professor said that after going through several industry-based surveys as well as research articles, a conclusion was derived that the average life of a solar panel ranges between 15 and 20 years while the life of objects that convert power is 10-12 years and they frequently witness faults.

3 Indian Army signs agreement to provide cancer treatment to ECHS beneficiaries

The Indian Army signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Monday with the Mizoram State Cancer Institute (MSCI) in Aizwal, Mizoram to provide cancer treatment to Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) beneficiaries.

MSCI, a renowned Cancer Hospital, has entered into this partnership to facilitate Cashless and Capless Medical Treatment to beneficiaries under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) across the State of Mizoram which includes ECHS beneficences of Assam Rifles at CGHS rates, read an official statement.

On behalf of Headquarters Eastern Command, HQ 101 Area and Central Organisation ECHS, the agreement was officially signed by the Regional Director of ECHS, Guwahati, and the Director of MSCI, Aizwal.

4 Shaun Marsh announces retirement from professional cricket

Australian cricketer Shaun Marsh on Sunday announced his retirement from professional cricket, with the Melbourne Renegades' fixture against Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League on Wednesday being his last assignment.

He joins former Australian skipper Aaron Finch into retirement.

"I have loved playing for the Renegades. I've met some great people over the last five years, and the friendships I've made will last a lifetime," Marsh, 40, said in a statement to the Renegades.

5 Rohit Sharma first men's player with 150 T20Is appearances and 100 win

Team India captain Rohit Sharma added another record to his illustrious career as he became the first men's player to play 150 T20Is.

Rohit Sharma achieved this feat during the second T20I match against Afghanistan at the Holkar Cricket Stadium. Rohit returned to India's T20I setup for the first time since the end of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022. He led his side to a 6-wicket victory over Afghanistan in the first T20I in Mohali.

6 Ritu Goswami appointed as Director (Technical) of RCF Ltd

The Central Government has approved the appointment of Ritu Goswami as Director (Technical) of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF) Limited. According to an order issued from the Ministry Chemicals and Fertilizers on January 11, Goswami has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of her assumption of charge of the post till the date of her superannuation i.e. March 31, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Presently, she is serving as General Manager (Technical) in National Fertilizers Limited (NFL).

Goswami was recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of RCF by the PESB panel on August 9, 2023. She was selected for the post from a list of 11 candidates.

7 WCL CMD Shri Manoj Kumar honored with 'IMMA Life Time Achievement Award'

Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman cum Managing Director, Western Coalfields Limited (WECOLI) was honored with the prestigious “IMMA Life Time Achievement Award”. This award was given to Shri Kumar during the national seminar organized on the topic “Green Mining Initiatives: Indian Mineral Industry Perspective” on 13 January 2024 at Hotel Tuli International, Nagpur.

Shri Manoj Kumar is the Chairman cum Managing Director of WCL since 01.01.2021. Prior to this, since November 2018, Shri Kumar has been the Director (Technical) at WCL.

8 LAUNCH OF 25T BOLLARD PULL TUG, BHISHM AT M/s TITAGARH RAIL SYSTEMS LTD, KOLKATA

25T Bollard Pull (BP) Tug, Bhishm was launched by Cmde S Sreekumar, Warship Production Superintendent (Kolkata) on 14 Jan 24 at M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (M/s TRSL), Kolkata. This Tug is a proud flag bearer of “Make in India” initiative of Govt of India.

Contract for construction and delivery of six 25T BP Tugs was concluded with M/s TRSL, Kolkata in consonance with “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiative of the Government of India. These Tugs are being built under the classification rules of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). The availability of Tugs will provide impetus to Operational commitments of IN by facilitating assistance to Naval ships and submarines during berthing and un-berthing, turning and manoeuvring in confined waters. The Tugs will also provide afloat firefighting assistance to ships alongside, at anchorage and will also have capability to conduct limited Search and Rescue Operations.

9 Delhi LG approves proposal to permit 32 more establishments to operate 24X7

Thirty-two more establishments--departmental stores, shops selling cosmetics and beauty products, and sweets shops--will be allowed to operate 24x7 in the capital, taking the total number of such commercial establishments to over 667.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the proposal under sections 14, 15, and 16 of the Delhi Shops and Establishment Act, 1954, for 32 establishments to work on a 24x7x365 basis.

As per the official statement, of these, 7 approvals have been granted to establishments that had applied for exemption for their women employees during nighttime.

10 Tamil Nadu CM Stalin to inaugurate newly-built Madurai Jallikattu stadium

The newly-built Madurai Jallikattu stadium is all set to be inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on January 23.

The new Jallikattu stadium being built near Alanganallur in Madurai district, is named after former chief minister of the state and late DMK leader M Karunanidhi.

CM Stalin had earlier announced that a world-class Jallikattu stadium with a seating capacity of more than 5,000 people would be constructed in this village at an estimated cost of Rs.44 crores.
