1 India's rank remains unchanged at 42 in International IP index 2024

India ranks 42nd in the International IP Index for 2024, out of 55 countries evaluated. India’s overall score also remained unchanged at 38.64 percent according to the 12th edition of the US Chamber of Commerce’s Global Innovation Policy Center’s International IP Index.

The Index evaluates the IP frameworks of the world's top 55 economies, revealing significant improvements in 20 economies. While the United States is once again the world leader, there were notable advancements led by Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and Nigeria. However, challenges persist, as 27 economies showed no change and eight, including Ecuador, experienced declines due to weak IP enforcement.

2 World Gold Council names Sachin Jain new India CEO

The World Gold Council Tuesday named Sachin Jain its new CEO for India.

Jain, who will take up the new role next month, brings with him a deep understanding of the Indian consumer and jewellery market.

He joins from De Beers where he has held several senior roles over the past 13 years. As managing director of DeBeers India, he has led the De Beers Forevermark business in India and the Middle East.

3 Sunil Bharti Mittal becomes first Indian to be awarded an Honorary Knighthood from King Charles III

Bharti Enterprises founder and chairman Sunil Mittal on Wednesday became the first Indian citizen to be awarded Honorary Knighthood, the Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE), by King Charles III for advancing India – UK business relations.

“I am deeply humbled by this gracious recognition from His Majesty, King Charles. UK and India have historical relations, which are now entering a new era of increased cooperation and collaboration. I remain committed to working towards strengthening the economic and bilateral trade relationships between our two great nations,” Mittal said.

4 Teen swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu clocks 'Best Indian Time' in 100m girl's freestyle

All of 14, Dhinidhi Desinghu on Wednesday produced a record-breaking swim to clock the 'Best Indian Time' in the girl's 100m freestyle event on way to a fourth place finish at the 11th Asian Group Aquatics Championships in Philippines.

Dhinidhi broke the previous record of 57.35s set by Kenisha Gupta, clocking a new Indian best time of 57.33s competing in the 'C' category at New Clark City in Capas, Philippines.

5 NTPC Green Energy and MAHAGENCO partner for development of Renewable Energy Parks in Maharashtra

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has signed a joint venture agreement with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) for the development of renewable energy parks in the state of Maharashtra, according to an official statement.

The company to be set up under the joint venture will develop GW-scale renewable energy parks and undertake projects of this scale in a phased manner. The agreement aligns with the green energy objectives of NTPC and is another step in the Government of India's efforts towards energy transition, said the statement.

8 PM Modi to inaugurate key coal connectivity projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate two First Mile Connectivity Projects (FMC) led by Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL) under the Ministry of Coal, via a virtual ceremony on February 29.

Valued at Rs 1393.69 crore, the projects mark a major leap towards efficient, mechanized coal evacuation while prioritizing eco-friendly practices to mitigate carbon emissions.

The projects include the Jayant OCP CHP-SILO and the Dudhichua OCP CHP-SILO. The Jayant OCP CHP-SILO, constructed with an investment of Rs. 723.50 crore, has a capacity of 15 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Similarly, the Dudhichua OCP CHP-SILO, with an investment of Rs. 670.19 crore, operates at a capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

9 NIA signs MoU with Thailand's traditional medicine department for academic collaboration

The National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, under the Ministry of Ayush of the Government of India and Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine of the Ministry of Public Health of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the establishment of an academic collaboration in Ayurveda and Thai traditional medicine in New Delhi.

The MoU was formalised at the 10th India-Thailand Joint Commission Meeting held at Hyderabad House, New Delhi on Tuesday. BK Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, Director General, Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Thailand signed the MoU in the presence of other dignitaries during the event.

10 Goa Governor's book 'Basic Structure and Republic' released at Raj Bhavan

Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai's book 'Basic Structure and Republic' was released by the Archbishop of Changanacherry (Kerala), Mar Joseph Perumthottam, on Tuesday.

The unveiling of the book took place in the presence of the Minister for Water Resource Development, Co-Operation and Provedoria Subhash Shirodkar at the old Durbar Hall of Goa Raj Bhavan.

The first copy of the book was received by Shirodkar, which was presented by Mar Joseph Perumthottam. The first lady of Goa Rita Shreedharan Pillai also graced the occasion.
