| 1 | Telecom Department Directs Operators To Block Over 28,000 Mobile Handsets For Cyber Fraud | The Department of Telecom (DoT) has ordered telecom operators to block 28,200 mobile handsets for their alleged link with cyber crimes. It has also directed the telecom operators to carry out the immediate verification of 20 lakh mobile connections, according to an official statement on Friday, April 10. To protect citizens from digital threats, DOT, Home Ministry and State Police have joined hands to stop the misuse of telecom resources in cyber crimes and financial frauds. “This collaborative effort aims to dismantle the networks of fraudsters and protect citizens from digital threats,” DOT said in a statement. An analysis carried out by MHA and state police has revealed that 28,200 mobile headsets were misused in cybercrimes. “The DoT further analysed and found that a staggering 20 lakh numbers were used with these mobile handsets.” read the statement. |

Ms. Nongrang belongs to the Khasi community and is currently the Director General of Meghalaya Civil Defence. She served as the acting DGP in 2021. The Khasis are a matrilineal community. Everest for 29th time, beats own record | Nepal’s legendary mountaineer Kami Rita Sherpa made history on Sunday by breaking his record for the highest number of ascents of Mt. The 54-year-old veteran climber reached the 8,849-metre peak at 7:25 am local time on Sunday, according to Rakesh Gurung, director at the Tourism Department in the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation. | 5 | SAIL-Bhilai to set up Chhattisgarh's first 15-Mw floating solar plant | Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), the Chhattisgarh-based arm of the state-run Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), will install the state's first 15-megawatt (MW) floating solar project in its Maroda-1 reservoir to improve its carbon footprint. The steel major is undertaking various projects to reduce carbon emissions, conserve energy, and promote renewable energy. “In a major step towards this, Bhilai Steel Plant has taken up the project of installation of a 15 MW capacity floating solar plant in its Maroda-1 reservoir,” a BSP spokesperson said. The project is being implemented through NTPC-SAIL Power Supply Company Limited (NSPCL), a 50:50 joint venture company of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and SAIL. The solar plant will be set up in Durg district. |
