Last year, actor Alia Bhatt and Olympian wrestler Sakshi Malik were among the few Indians who featured in the Time Magazine's list. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, World Bank President Ajay Banga and actor Dev Patel were the few Indian-origin people who made it to the list.

The 2025 Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People list features global figures ranging from politics, science, business and entertainment who made significant impacts and contributions over the past year.

2 Vice President JD Vance receives Guard of Honour in Delhi

United States Vice President JD Vance received a ceremonial Guard of Honour at Palam Airport on Sunday, marking the beginning of his first official visit to India. Accompanied by Second Lady Usha Vance and their children, the Vice President was warmly welcomed by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw upon his arrival.

To commemorate the occasion, hoardings featuring Vice President Vance were installed around the vicinity of Palam Airport. His four-day visit, spanning from April 21 to 24, is expected to significantly boost bilateral ties between the two nations.

Later today, Vice President Vance will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Prime Minister’s official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. The formal meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m., will center on strengthening cooperation in key areas such as economy, trade, and defense.

3 Samanta gets Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma award

Founder of KIIT and KISS Achyuta Samanta was conferred the Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Award 2025, in Kokrajhar at Assam on Friday.

Instituted by Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Trust, the award recognises Samanta’s significant contributions to the society through education and social empowerment.

The award is named after Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma, a revered spiritual leader and social reformer of the Bodo community, widely known as the Mech Gandhi of Assam, who dedicated his life to the propagation, preservation, and promotion of education. Every year, in his memory, this award is presented to distinguished individuals who have made remarkable contributions in various fields.

4 INS Chennai, Kesari sail from Tanzania after successful maiden edition of AIKEYME Exercise

Indian Naval Ships INS Chennai and INS Kesari sailed from Dar es Salaam after the successful completion of the maiden edition of the AIKEYME exercise. The ships departed on April 19, as announced by the Indian Navy in a statement.

Sharing the details in a post on X, the Indian Navy noted, "Marking the successful completion of the maiden edition of #AIKEYME exercise, the Indian Naval Ships #INSChennai and #INSKesari sailed from Dar es Salaam on #19Apr 25."

It further added, "RAdm AR Hassan, Navy Commander #TPDF & Cmde Agyapal Singh, DA India alongwith TPDF personnel were present at the port attending the departure ceremony."

5 BTS member Jin announces second solo album Echo

BTS’ Kim Seok-jin, better known as Jin, is making a return with his second solo album, Echo. It will be released this May, six months after the success of his first solo album ‘Happy’. Fans are assuming that this project will be the final stepping stone towards BTS' group reunion later this year.

As announced by BIGHIT MUSIC, ‘Echo’ will feature seven tracks. Phrases like “Play it loud” and “Born to be wild” from the teaser poster hint towards a genre-rich album.

“Echo conveys universal life experiences and emotions through Jin's unique and charming perspective. The album features seven tracks that showcase his versatile vocals against a dynamic band sound," says the record label’s statement.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated the 'Garia and Borsho Boron Utsav' 2025 on Monday.The two-day event is being held at the Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala.

8 Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Flags Off Operations at India’s Largest Cruise Terminal in Mumbai

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off cruise operations from the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT) in Mumbai today. MICT is India’s largest world-class cruise terminal. The newly inaugurated MICT is designed to handle 1 million passengers every year, with approximately 10,000 passengers per day. It can also handle 5 ships simultaneously.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sonowal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for port-led prosperity has redefined our maritime ambitions. While talking about the ‘Cruise Bharat Mission’, he said, It is our resolve to make Bharat one of the top cruise destinations in the world. This mission embraces three pillars, i.e., ocean and harbour cruises, river and inland cruises, and island and lighthouse cruises.

Spread over a built-up area of more than 415,000 square feet, the MICT is developed at Ballard Pier. Equipped with 72 check-in and immigration counters spreading over an area of 207,000 square feet on the first two floors (G+1), while the other two floors (2 + 3) are developed as commercial floors.

9 Arunachal Pradesh Deputy CM Inaugurates International Conclave On ‘Buddha Dhamma & Culture Of North-East India’

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the International Conclave on the theme Buddha Dhamma and the Culture of North-East India” in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh today. The two-day conference is being organised by the International Buddhist Confederation in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Bhutan’s Consul General in Guwahati, Jigme Thinley Namgyal, Director General of the International Buddhist Confederation, Abhijit Halder and Secretary General Shartse Jangchup Choeden Rinpoche were also present at the inaugural session.

On the first day, today, three panel discussions were held on the historical relevance, art and culture of the region and the cultural impact of Buddha Dhamma on the neighbouring countries, and vice versa. The second day, tomorrow, will be dedicated to practising Vipassana and praying for world peace at the famous Golden Pagoda in Namsai.

10 Dr Mangi Lal Jat takes charge as Secretary of DARE and Director General of ICAR
