NEW DELHI: India launched its second "information technology corridor" in China on Sunday to cash in on the burgeoning Chinese software market, which remained elusive despite the presence of top Indian tech firms in the large Asian nation. India's first IT corridor in China was launched in the Chinese port city of Dalian last December, with a focus on Internet of Things or IOT.

The National Association of Software and Services Companies or NASSCOM has now set up one more digital collaborative opportunities plaza, also known as the SIDCOP platform, in China's Guiyang to give market access to Indian IT firms in the huge Chinese market, the NASSCOM said in a statement.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed plans to install 10,000 Supercharger stations for his company's electric vehicles around the world by 2019 end.

There are at present 1,229 Supercharger stations across the world, with 9,623 Superchargers installed which can charge an electric vehicle in just 30 minutes (nearly 80 percent capacity).

From January to 12 May, Tesla has added 121 new stations.

Tesla is installing Superchargers in urban areas where city dwellers and out of town visitors can easily charge.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) which connects Haryana’s Kundli on NH 1 and Palwal on NH 2 as well as the phase-1 of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, India’s first “14-lane highway”.

The twin projects happen to be one of India’s most ambitious road network initiatives in recent times. The 14-laned (Six lanes+ four service lanes on both sides), 82- kilometre-long Delhi-Meerut Expressway, which connects Delhi to eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh, is equipped with several features to improve the air quality and reduce pollution in Delhi NCR.

Within hours of the European Union's (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) taking effect on 25 May, technology giants Google and Facebook have been hit with privacy complaints that could carry fines of up to $9.3 billion in total, a media report said.

With regard to privacy, Google, Facebook and Facebook-owned WhatsApp and Instagram are forcing people to adopt a "take it or leave it" approach which essentially amounts to demanding that users submit to intrusive terms of service, according to the Austrian privacy-advocacy group Noyb.eu, CNET reported on 25 May.

In a landmark reform in the field of Higher Education, University Grants Commission has approved UGC (Online Courses) Regulations, 2018 in its meeting held on 24^th May, 2018. Higher Educational Institutions can offer Certificate, Diploma and Degree Programmes in full-fledged online mode in only those disciplines in which it has already been offering the same or similar Programmes /Courses at graduation level in regular mode (of classroom teaching) or in Open and Distance Learning mode and from which at least one batch has been graduated and approved by the statutory councils, as applicable.

Online Programmes requiring Practical/ Laboratory Courses as a curricular requirement shall not be permitted.  The Examinations shall be conducted in proctored mode and in conformity with any norms for such examinations stipulated by the commission. The online learning shall have minimum four quadrants: video lectures, e- content, self-assessment and discussion forum to clarify doubts.

Japan's women won the Uber Cup on Saturday, breezing past surprise finalists Thailand 3-0 in Bangkok to end a 37-year wait to regain the title.

With a team stacked with top ranked players in both the singles and doubles, Japan made light work of the host, which entered the final for the first time after stunning China in the semifinal.

It ends an Uber Cup drought for Japan that stretches back to 1981 and is a major confidence boost ahead of the Olympics which it will host in two years' time.

The Uber Cup is second in prestige only to the Olympics as a national team event.

World number two Akane Yamaguchi got Japan off to a flyer, dulling the boisterous partisan home crowd with a 21-15, 21-19 win over Ratchanok Intanon, blending deft touches at the net with patience in the rallies and power shots.
