UAE approves plan for new equal pay law |
- The UAE Cabinet has approved the issuance of legislation to ensure equal pay for men and women working in the country.
- According to state news agency WAM, the Law on Equal Wages and Salaries for Men and Women will ensure that women have equal opportunities as partners in the UAE’s development, and to further empower women to lead future national strategies and ambitious projects.

India, Morocco sign pact to promote mineral exploration |
- India has inked a pact with Morocco under which focus would be laid on evaluation of potential mineral resources and promoting exploration and mining through participation of both public and private sector.
- "After the bilateral discussions, an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) in the field of Mining and Geology for a period of 5 years was signed by both the countries," the mines ministry said in a statement.

ISRO's PSLV Successfully Launches IRNSS-1I Navigation Satellite From Sriharikota Days After Big Jolt: 10 Points |
- ISRO, the Indian Space Research Organisation, declared the 43rd mission of the PSLV a success after it placed the IRNSS 1I satellite into a precise orbit. The last satellite launch for the satellite-aided navigation NAVIC programme by the PSLV had failed in August 2017.
- After the launch, ISRO Chairman Dr K Sivan said, "I am extremely happy to announce that the 8th navigation satellite of India was launched successfully into the NAVIC constellation. We are moving towards a major goal. This NAVIC constellation will create history."
- India needs seven operational satellites for providing failsafe satellite based navigation. The 1,425-kg satellite was made by the Bengaluru-based Alpha Design Technologies, in collaboration with ISRO.

- India’s mega defence exhibition, the defexpo 2018, will begin in Chennai on Wednesday. The event will underscore India’s first serious attempt to project itself as a major military manufacturer.
- The event will be formally inaugurated on April 12 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- The event is happening even as work on the Tamil Nadu defence industrial corridor has begun. The corridor will be a quadrilateral extending from Chennai to Hosur, Coimbatore, Salem and Tiruchirappalli, opening new opportunities for the industry.

Wipro Director, Harvard Alumnus Rishad Premji Appointed Chairman Of Nasscom |
- Rishad Premji, chief strategy officer and board member of Wipro Ltd, was appointed as chairman of IT industry body Nasscom (National Association of Software and Service Companies) for 2018-19. Mr Premji succeeds Raman Roy, chairman and managing director, Quatrro Global Services, who served as chairman of Nasscom for 2017-18.
- On Mr Premji's elevation as the chairman, Nasscom tweeted and announced, "Pleased to have Mr. Rishad Premji- Chief Strategy Officer, @Wipro on board as the Chairman of NASSCOM. We wish him all the best & support for the journey and his efforts to take NASSCOM and the technology industry to greater heights," tweeted Nasscom, a trade association of the Indian IT BPM industry.

- New Delhi: AIIMS professor Balram Bhargava was appointed the Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Secretary of the Department of Health Research on Tuesday.
- Bharagava, at present Professor/Senior Consultant Cardiologist at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here, has been appointed to the post for a period of three years or until attainment of age of 60 years, according to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry.

Isro set to launch first privately built satellite tomorrow |
- India could see its first privately built satellite in space this week as Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) gears up for a launch to boost its Navic fleet.
- A consortium of mid- and smallsized firms led by Bengaluru-based aerospace firm Alpha Design Technologies has built IRNSS-1L, the backup navigation satellite with a new atomic clock, under the watchful eyes of Isro. It is also the first satellite to be built at a special Isro facility for private firms.
