| 9 | CM Fadnavis Flags Off Second Phase of Country's First Monorail in Mumbai | Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Sunday flagged off the much-delayed 11.28-kilometre second phase of the Chembur-Wadala-Jacob Circle monorail network. The 8.26-kilometre first phase, built and operated by a consortium of Larsen & Toubro and Malaysian firm Scomi Engineering, was commissioned in February 2014. Speaking at the event, Fadnavis said the country's first ever monorail had faced many hurdles and delays in the past but was now finally seeing the light of day. "The first 8 km route which got commissioned in 2014 was used as a mere joyride because there was no last mile connectivity. But now, with the commissioning of the second phase, it will no longer remain a joyride but passengers can now use it for a hassle-free commute," he said. The CM said the monorail's annual ridership will now increase from the current 4.5 lakh to 30 lakh. |

| 10 | PM Modi Chairs National Security Council Meet, Days After Pakistani Jets Breach Indian Airspace | Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the National Security Council meet on Sunday evening, where NSA Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary VK Gokhale were also present along with Union ministers. The crucial meeting came in the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The NSA is tasked with advising the prime minister on matters of national security. It was set up by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in 1998, with Brajesh Mishra as the first National Security Advisor (NSA). The NSC keeps meeting on regular basis but the latest meet assumes significance owing to the latest security scenario. On Monday, the prime minister had held the Cabinet Committee on Security met after the Indian Air Force carried out air strikes in Pakistan. Doval and other top officials of the prime minister's office and the security apparatus were present at the meeting. India had claimed to have carried out air strikes inside Pakistan and targeted terror camps, after JeM said that it was behind the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. |
