Woman-led start-up develops AI tool that creates multi-faceted authentication system
A woman-led start-up has successfully developed an AI-based tool that creates a “robust and multi-faceted authentication system” by combining facial recognition with gait analysis, the defence ministry said on Friday.
This innovative solution marks a “significant advancement” in biometric authentication technology, offering “enhanced accuracy and reliability” in identifying individuals, it said in a statement.
The start-up was established by woman entrepreneur Shivani Verma after winning the prestigious ‘Dare to Dream 2.0’, a pan India theme-based contest organised by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), it said.
Ingenious Research Solutions Pvt Ltd has successfully developed an AI tool ‘Divya Drishti’ that “integrates face recognition with immutable physiological parameters such as gait and skeleton,” the ministry said.

G7 agrees to use frozen Russian assets for $50 billion loan for Ukraine

Khandu approves Rs 100 cr under CM's Social Security Scheme in Arunachal
Hours after being sworn in, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday signed his first official document, approving the release of Rs 100 crore under the Chief Minister's Social Security Scheme (CMSSS) which will benefit approximately 80,000 people across the state.
The CMSSS, a state flagship programme, provides pensions to elderly persons above 60 years, widows, and divyang jan (differently abled).
"Considering the fact that preparations for the state budget has been delayed due to the general elections, it is necessary that the benefits under CMSSS reach the needy beneficiaries at the earliest," he said.
India sends humanitarian aid to landslide-hit Papua New Guinea
India on June 13 sent 19 tonnes of humanitarian and disaster relief (HADR) materials to Papua New Guinea’s Enga Province that was hit by a major landslide.
Late last month, India announced a $1 million assistance to the island nation in the wake of the landslide.
Over 2,000 people were killed in the landslide, according to media reports from that country.
Rajib Kumar Mishra ceases to be chairman of PFS after Sebi's order
Rajib Kumar Mishra ceased to be chairman of PTC India Financial Services Ltd (PFS) as well as CMD of PTC India Ltd following the order passed by markets regulator Sebi that restrained him from holding the director's post for six months, the two companies said on Thursday.
PFS, promoted by PTC India Ltd, is a non-deposit-taking NBFC classified as an infrastructure finance company.
Mishra held office in PFS in the capacity of chairman and non-executive director and was also holding the position of Chairman & Managing Director of PTC India Ltd.
"Pursuant to...regulatory order issued by Sebi, Rajib Kumar Mishra ceases to be the chairman, non-executive director of the company with effect from the date of issue of the said order i.e. June 12, 2024," PFS said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.
Kathmandu To Host International Tourism Fair From June 14
Kathmandu is set to host an international tourism fair aimed at promoting global tourism, sustainable development, and cultural exchange.
The event beginning tomorrow will feature tourism entrepreneurs from 16 countries.
Countries participating in the fair include Nepal, India, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, the Maldives, the USA, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, China, Thailand, Dubai, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Bhutan.

Ajit Doval appointed National Security Advisor for third consecutive time
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday appointed Ajit Doval as his National Security Advisor (NSA) for the third consecutive time, with the rank of cabinet minister for another five years.
As his first major assignment in Modi 3.0, Doval will be travelling with the PM to Italy on Thursday for the G7 Summit. He also attended a review meeting chaired by the PM on the fire tragedy in Kuwait in which 42 Indians have died and many were injured.
Kerala government announced financial support for Kuwait fire accident victims
A special state cabinet that met on Thursday decided to provide financial assistance to the families of Keralites killed and injured in a fire outbreak in an apartment housing labourers at Al Mangaf in Southern Ahmadi Governorate of Kuwait on Wednesday.
The families of the deceased will be given Rs 5 lakh each, while the relatives of the injured will be given Rs one lakh each.
The state government’s media handout said leading businessmen from Kerala, Yusuf Ali and Ravi Pillai, have conveyed to the chief minister their decision to provide financial assistance to the families of the victims.
Zomato sets Guinness World Record in Mumbai
Zomato recently trained their delivery partners in Mumbai so that they can “provide medical aid during critical roadside emergencies”. The company trained a total of 4,300 delivery partners at a single site on June 12 and earned the world record for the same. Zomato has earned the Guinness World Record (GWR) title for the “largest first aid lesson at a single venue”. Deepinder Goyal, the founder and CEO of the food aggregator company, shared about the world record on X, saluting “Emergency Heroes of India” and expressing “gratitude” towards them.
“Yesterday in Mumbai, we broke the Guinness World Record for the largest first aid lesson at a single venue, together with 4,300 delivery partners,” wrote Deepinder Goyal on X.
