Kim Jong-un and Moon Jae-in agree to denuclearise Korean peninsula: Highlights of the Panmunjeom Declaration
North Korean premier Kim Jong-un, in a historic summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, agreed to end a six-decade-long war and vowed to denuclearise the Korean peninsula.
Leaders of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) and Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) held an Inter-Korean Summit Meeting at the 'Peace House' at Panmunjeom on 27 April, 2018. In an event keenly watched by the whole world, including 80 million Korean people, the two leaders declared that there a new era of peace has begun as they vowed to deepen people-to-people interaction amid the two Koreas.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work
This year, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work (SafeDay) and the World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL) are coming together in a joint campaign to improve the safety and health of young workers and end child labour.
The campaign aims to accelerate action to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 8.8 of safe and secure working environments for all workers by 2030 and SDG target 8.7 of ending all forms of child labour by 2025. Achieving these goals for the benefit of the next generation of the global workforce requires a concerted and integrated approach to eliminating child labour and promoting a culture of prevention on occupational safety health (OSH).
India to have 500 million internet users by June this year: Experts
India’s internet user base will hit 500 million by June this year and by 2020, the country will have more than 700 million smartphone users, according to the industry experts.
Mobile phones will emerge as the preferred device for online shopping by 2020, accounting for 70 per cent of total online shopping, said the experts at the seventh edition of the India Internet Day in Delhi held on Thursday.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is awarded the National Intellectual Property (IP) Award 2018 in the category “Top R&D Institution / Organization for Patents and Commercialization”. Dr. Girish Sahni, DG, CSIR and Secretary, DSIR received the award today at the hands of Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister, Commerce and Industry, Government of India, at a function organized by the Indian Intellectual Property Office and Confederation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (CII) in New Delhi, to celebrate the World IP Day.
North and South Korean leaders hold historic summit
High-stakes summit: The leaders of North and South Korea are meeting for the first time in more than a decade.
Historic handshake: Kim Jong Un became the first North Korean leader to cross the demilitarized zone (DMZ) into South Korean territory since fighting ended in the Korean War. He shook South Korean President Moon Jae-in's hand on both sides of the demarcation line.
What they've said: Kim wrote "A new history begins now" in the guest book at Peace House, where the talks are taking place. Moon praised the "courageous and bold decision made by you, Chairman Kim, to arrange our meeting."
What's on the agenda: There are three key topics: denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula, improving relations, and seeking a formal peace settlement.
