1 Indian Air Force to start registration under Agnipath recruitment scheme today

Registration process for recruitment of first batch of Agniveers undernewly launched Agnipath scheme in Indian Air Force is beginning from today. Interested candidates can apply for the recruitment process online on the official website at agnipathvayu.cdac.in.

As per the notification released by Indian Air Force, the online registrations for Agniveers will begin from 10 AM. There is no change in the process of induction, entry-level qualification and examination syllabus. All enrollments in Air Force will take place only through Agniveer Vayu. Online exam will be conducted at 250 centres across the country from 24th July to 31st July. The recruitment process will be completed by the end of this year.

Army and Navy will start the registration process from 1st of next month.

2 BRICS Summit begins tomorrow ; Prime Minister Modi to address virtually

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend two-day 14th BRICS Summit hosted by China beginning tomorrow. The summit will be held in virtual format under the theme of Foster High-quality BRICS Partnership, Usher in a New Era for Global Development. Chinese President Xi Jinping will also chair a High-Level Dialogue on Global Development with guest countries on 24th of June.

BRICS leaders and leaders of relevant emerging markets and developing countries will attend the High-Level Dialogue on Global Development on 24th June. Ministry of External Affairs said, BRICS has become a platform for discussing and deliberating on issues of common concern for all developing countries. BRICS countries have regularly called for reform of the multilateral system in order to make it more representative and inclusive.

4 PM to inaugurate Commerce and Industry Ministry's new premises, Vanijya Bhawan; to also launch NIRYAT portal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new premises of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Vanijya Bhawan at 10:30 AM today. During the Programme, Mr Modi will also launch a new portal, NIRYAT (National Import-Export Record for Yearly Analysis of Trade), which is developed as a one stop platform for stakeholders to get all necessary information related to India’s foreign trade. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.

AIR correspondent reports that constructed near India Gate, the Vanijya Bhawan is designed as a smart building. It incorporates the principles of sustainable architecture with a special focus on energy saving. It will serve as an integrated and modern office complex. Vanijya Bhawan will be used by the two Departments under the Ministry, Department of Commerce and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade DPIIT.

5 ISRO successfully launches India's Communication satellite GSAT-24 from Kourou in French Guiana

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched communication satellite GSAT-24 from Kourou in French Guiana early this morning. GSAT-24, built by ISRO for NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), was launched by French company Arianespace.

GSAT-24 is a 24-Ku band communication satellite weighing 4180 kg with pan-India coverage for meeting DTH application needs. It was the first demand driven communication satellite mission undertaken by NSIL post space sector reforms. NSIL, a Government of India company under the Department of Space, has leased the entire satellite capacity to Tata Play.

6 JEE Main examination for June 2022 session commences today

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main June 2022 session will commence today. National Testing Agency will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) - 2022 June Session at different centres located in 501 cities throughout the country and 22 Cities in Outside-India on 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, and 29th June.

National Testing Agency will conduct Common University Entrance Test [CUET (UG) - 2022] at different centres located in 554 cities across India and 13 Cities Outside-India. The CUET (UG) will be conducted on 15th, 16th, 19th, 20th July and 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th and 10th August in Computer-Based Test CBT mode. Over 11 lakh candidates have registered for the first edition of CUET.

In March, University Grants Commission Chairman Jagadesh Kumar had announced that CUET scores would be mandatory for admission to 45 central universities, and that the central universities can fix their minimum eligibility criteria. A total of 44 central universities, 12 state universities, 11 deemed universities and 19 private universities have applied for participating in the first edition of CUET for UG admissions in the 2022-23 academic session.

8 Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy inaugurates festival showcasing talent of unsung performers 'Jyotirgamaya' in New Delhi

Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated Jyotirgamaya - a festival showcasing the talent of unsung performers in New Delhi. As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and on the occasion of World Music Day yesterday, Sangeet Natak Akademi has organised this festival to showcase the talent of rare musical instruments from across the country, including street performers and train entertainers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Reddy said that music is universal language and Indian music, like its culture, is very diverse. He said, in Indian culture music is integrated in every aspect of life. The Minister added that preservation of folk music and their instruments should be a top priority and this event will take it further.
The festival envisages sensitising people about the need to safeguard the craft of making as well as the skill of playing rare musical instruments. This is a unique endeavour of Sangeet Natak Akademi to salvage the dying performing arts of India.

9 Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launches NIPUN National Initiative for Promoting Upskilling of Nirman workers

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today launched an innovative project National Initiative for Promoting Upskilling of Nirman workers (NIPUN) in New Delhi. NIPUN is an initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under its flagship scheme of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission DAY-NULM to train over one lakh construction workers, through fresh skilling and upskilling programmes and provides them with work opportunities in foreign countries also. 

While addressing, Mr Puri said, the transformational impact of the National Urban Livelihoods Mission has definitively reduced the vulnerability of urban poor households by providing upskilling and employment opportunities to urban dwellers, especially the youth. He said, the spirit of entrepreneurship has been encouraged and supported by giving urban workers access to self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities. The Minister said, the initiative will enable Nirman workers to be more proficient and skilled while making them adopt future trends in the construction industry by increasing their capabilities and diversifying their skill sets. He said, NIPUN Project will enable the construction workers to seek better job opportunities, increase their wages and even pursue overseas placements - an indication of a new eco-system. Mr Puri added that through suitable skilling initiatives such as NIPUN, India creating a future labour force for the construction industry which will propel innovation and large-scale development in the country.

10 Prime Minister’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution towards the Development and Promotion of Yoga for the Year 2021, announced

The Prime Minister's award for outstanding contribution for promotion of Yoga has been announced for the year 2021. Bhikkhu Sanghasena from Ladakh, Marcus Vinicius Rojo Rodrigues from Brazil and two organisations, The Divine Life Society from Uttarakhand and the British Wheel of Yoga from United Kingdom have been chosen for the award. Ayush Ministry said, the winners will be felicitated with a trophy, certificate and cash award of 25 lakh rupees.

The award was announced by the Prime Minister on the occasion of the second International Day of Yoga celebrations at Chandigarh in 2016.
