1 HM Amit Shah to launch “CAPF eAwas” web-portal in New Delhi

Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the Central Armed Police Forces' eAwas web-portal in New Delhi today. Ministry of Home Affairs said, increasing the Housing Satisfaction Ratio for CAPFs personnel is one of the priority areas of the Government.

In order to operationalise the revised policy of allotment and to also bring transparency to the allotment process, a common web-portal 'CAPF eAwas' has been developed. The web-portal will enable online registration and allotment of residential quarters to eligible personnel of CAPFs and Assam Rifles.

2 CERT-In conducts exercise Cyber Security Exercise “Synergy”

Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Ministry of Electronics and  IT, in collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore successfully designed and conducted the Cyber Security Exercise “Synergy” for 13 Countries yesterday. It was a part of the International Counter Ransomware Initiative- Resilience Working Group. The Group is being led by India under the leadership of National Security Council Secretariat. The theme of the exercise was “Building Network Resiliency to counter Ransomware Attacks”. The exercise scenario was derived from real life cyber incidents, in which a domestic level (limited impact) ransomware incident escalates to a global cyber security crisis.

3 Festival of Ganesh Chaturthi being celebrated across the country today with great devotion

Ganeshotsav, the most popular and favourite festival of Maharashtra begins today. The festival assumes a lot of significance as it is celebrated on a very large scale by people from different sections of society.

The festivities will be celebrated in a cheerful atmosphere sans Covid-19 restrictions. Since last evening, devotees have started bringing the idols of Lord Ganesha to their homes and public pandals.

The festival of dynamism will continue for 10 days. AIR correspondent reports that amid chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangal Murti Morya devotees have started welcoming their favorite God Lord Ganesha to their homes and public pandals.
 
Maharashtra which has a rich culture is specifically known for its Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav, which means those installed in public pandals. With no Covid-19 restrictions in place, the festival will be celebrated in a captivating atmosphere.

Sports Authority of India (SAI) felicitates World Cadet Judo Champion Linthoi Chanambam

Linthoi Chanambam, the 16-year-old, who recently became the first Indian to win a world title in judo, was commemorated and facilitated by the Director General, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Shri Sandip Pradhan at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi on Monday.

The judoka from Manipur defeated Brazil’s Reis Bianca in the 57 kg weight category, 1-0 by Waza-ari — a throw — to clinch the historic Gold at the World Cadet Championship 2022 in Sarajevo.

Linthoi Chanambam was accompanied by her Georgian coach Mamuka Kizilashvii to the event.

5 Sports Ministry to organise 'Meet the Champion initiative' in 26 schools on occasion of National Sports Day

Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry will organise- Meet the Champion initiative in 26 schools across the country on the occasion of National Sports Day on Monday. Few of the prominent athletes who will be the part of this initiative are Commonwealth Games and World Championships Gold Medalist Nikhat Zareen, Paralympics and CWG medalist Bhavina Patel, Tokyo Olympics and CWG medalist Manpreet Singh among others.

Meet the Champions is a unique school visit campaign that was kicked off by Olympic Gold medallist Neeraj Chopra in December last year. It has reached various parts of the country over the past few months. During the school visit, the champion athlete shares their experiences, life lessons, and tips on how to eat right and also give an overall inspirational boost to school children.

6 National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority to celebrate Silver Jubilee today

National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) will celebrate its Silver Jubilee in New Delhi today. On the occasion, Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will launch Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System 2.0, an integrated responsive cloud-based application. It will provide a single window for submissions of various forms as mandated under Drug Price Control Order, 2013. It will also enable the paperless functioning of NPPA and facilitate the stakeholders to connect with National Pharma Pricing Regulator from across the country.

8 AAI, Sweden's LFV Air Navigation Services join hands for developing next generation sustainable aviation technology

Airports Authority of India(AAI) and Sweden's LFV Air Navigation Services have joined hands for developing and operationalizing the next generation sustainable aviation technology to explore smart aviation solutions. AAI and Sweden's LFV signed a Memorandum of Understanding today in New Delhi in this regard. Civil Aviation Ministry informed that the MoU will pave the way for bilateral exchange of aviation knowledge, expertise and technology transfer between the two countries.

It will also allow the Indian companies to accelerate growth while leveraging Swedish innovation and expertise. MoU aims to expand technical cooperation in airports and support the development of a safe, secure, sustainable and efficient aviation sector. On the occasion, Chairman of Airports Authority of India, Sanjeev Kumar expressed confidence that the mutual exchange in civil aviation between AAI and LFV Sweden will go a long way in building and operationalization of next generation smart and sustainable aviation technology.

9 UGC declares 21 universities as fake

University Grant Commission, UGC has declared twenty-one universities as fake. In a letter, UGC said that 21 institutions are functioning in self-styled manner across the country, which are not recognized by the commission. Awaring the students UGC said that these institutions are not empowered to confer a degree.

UGC said the highest eight such fake universities are functioning in Delhi and three in Uttar Pradesh. It said that the remaining ten fake universities belong to the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, West Bengal, Odisha, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh.

10 Justice Uday Umesh Lalit sworn in as 49th Chief Justice of India

Justice Uday Umesh Lalit will be sworn-in as Chief Justice of India today. President Draupadi Murmu will administer him oath as the 49th Chief Justice of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan. He succeeds Justice NV Ramana, who retired yesterday.  

Justice UU Lalit will be in office for 74 days, a tenure shorter than average. Justice Lalit was involved in some landmark judgements in past and will also handle some major cases in his tenure as Chief Justice. In past, he was involved in the landmark judgement in the Triple Talaq case.

Justice UU Lalit studied at the Government Law College, Mumbai, and specialised in criminal law. He practised in the Bombay High Court till 1985 and moved to Delhi in 1986.
