1 NHA under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission scheme introduces QR Code based rapid OPD registration

The National Health Authority under its flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has introduced QR Code based rapid OPD registration in the hospital. This service allows old as well as new patients to simply scan a QR Code and share their demographic details like name, father name, age, gender, address and mobile number with the hospital. 

The Health Ministry said, this will helps to reduce the time taken at the OPD registration counter and avoid the wait in long queues. The QR Code based rapid OPD registration has been started on a pilot basis in the OPD block of Lady Hardinge Medical College and Smt. Sucheta Kriplani Hospital in New Delhi. The Ministry said, the service is planned to be soon extended to other health facilities and departments.

2 Indian Railways plans to become Net Zero Carbon Emitter by 2030

Indian Railways has adopted an integrated approach for a Green Environment and planned to gradually reduce its carbon footprint to  become Net Zero Carbon Emitter by 2030. Ministry of Railways in a statement said that Railways will attempt to reduce its carbon footprint primarily through sourcing of its energy requirements from renewable energy source. Other strategies towards Net Zero emitter includes taking a multi-pronged approach of electrification of its routes, shifting from diesel to electric traction, promotion of energy efficiency and  construction of Dedicated Freight Corridors.

The Ministry added that the  Government of India, as part of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), has set a target of 33 per cent emissions intensity reduction, with the transport sector being one of the key sectors with substantial mitigation potential. It said, one of the most vital transportation emissions mitigation strategies agreed to by the Government of India was increasing the share of Indian Railways in the movement of freight from the existing 36 per cent  to 45 per cent by 2030.

3 Mallakhamb competitions begin at National Games

Indian indigenous sport Mallakhamb began at the 36th National Games yesterday. Mallakhamba is the display of aerial yoga and wrestling grips with vertical stationary or hanging wooden pole performed by a gymnast. This is one of the five new sports to be played at the National Games this year. The sport made its debut at the Khelo India University Games earlier this year where Madhya Pradesh bagged 12 medals including 5 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze.

In other events yesterday, Maharashtra won gold in the women’s diving 1-meter springboard event. In Women's Hockey, Haryana advanced to the semifinals defeating Karnataka by 6-0.

4 RBI to soon commence pilot launch of E-Rupee for specific use cases; Issues concept note

Reserve Bank of India has released a Concept Note on Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) to create awareness about the Digital Rupee. It explains the objectives, choices, benefits, and risks of issuing a digital currency in  India.

The concept note also discusses issues such as technology and design choices, possible uses of the Digital Rupee, issuance mechanisms, and role of RBI in introduction of the CBDT. It also examines the implications of the introduction of digital currency on the banking system, monetary policy, financial stability, and privacy. According to the release, RBI will soon commence the launch of the Digital Rupee on a pilot basis for specific use.

7 Defence Minister Rajnath Singh performs 'Shastra Pooja' at Auli Military Station in Uttarakhand on occasion of Vijayadashami

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today stressed India believes in the principle that whole world is one family but gives a befitting response if any outsider casts an evil eye. Mr Singh said this while celebrating Vijaya Dashami performing Shastra Pooja with Jawans of Armed Forces and ITBP personnel at  Auli Military Station in Chamoli Uttarakhand.

He said, the whole world acknowledged India’s growing stature and, India has emerged as one of the key decision makers on all issues of international importance. Mr Singh said, India is heard with respect in international fora.

8 PM Modi inaugurates AIIMS and lays foundation stone for several projects worth over ?3500 cr in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Kothipura in Bilaspur district of  Himachal Pradesh. Spread over an area of about 247 acres, this 1471 crore rupees 750 bedded premier medical institute would provide super specialty medical treatment to the people of the region.

Prime Minister also inaugurated 140 crore rupees Government Hydro Engineering College at Bandla in Bilaspur. He also laid foundation stones of 350 crore rupees for Medical Devices Park to be set up at Nalagarh and Pinjore-Nalagarh four-lane road project to be constructed under the Bharat Mala project with a cost of 1692 crore rupees.

9 India emerges as largest producer of sugar in world

India has emerged as the world’s largest producer and second largest exporter of sugar. In Sugar Season 2021-22, a record of more than five thousand lakh metric tons of sugarcane was produced in the country. Out of this, 35 lakh metric ton sugar was diverted to ethanol production and 359 lakh metric ton of sugar was produced by sugar mills. 

Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution Ministry said, the season has proven to be a watershed season for the Indian Sugar Sector. Records highest sugar exports of over 109 lakh metric tons have been registered.
 
The Ministry said, supportive international prices and Central government Policy led to this feat of the Indian Sugar Industry. These exports earned foreign currency of about 40 thousand crore rupees. It said, the success story of the sugar industry is the outcome of synchronous and collaborative efforts of Central and State Governments, farmers, and sugar mills with a supportive overall ecosystem for business in the country.

10 ICSI celebrates its 54th foundation day in New Delhi

Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) celebrated its 54th foundation day in New Delhi today. The theme of this year was Building Governance Ecosystem for Sustainable Growth. Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad was the chief guest for the event.

Addressing the event, Dr.Rao said, company secretaries, play an important role in making sure that all the companies are following guidelines issued by the government. He further said, India is the fifth largest economy in the world and one of the factors behind this success is the country's corporates. Last year, 83.57 billion dollars in foreign investments came into the country and company secretaries had a big role in it. He said that with this progress, social justice and social development are also very important. He added that it will help in uplifting the poor. Talking about the importance of nature, he said that company secretaries need to work with nature and make necessary lifestyle changes and for that, they should work closely with corporates.
