On the second day of his visit to Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the 10th Heads of Missions Conference at Kevadia today. PM will launch Mission LiFE in Kevadiya in the presence of UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres. Later, PM will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for Projects worth over 1 thousand 970 crore rupees at Vyara in Tapi district of South Gujarat.

Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan has launched the draft of National Credit Framework (NCF) for public consultation.

The Government has developed it to enable the integration of academic and vocational domains to ensure flexibility and mobility between them. The Framework would be a game changer by opening numerous options for further progression of students and inter-mingling of school and higher education with vocational education and experiential learning. It will also enable students who have dropped out of mainstream education to re-enter the education ecosystem.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi begins his 2-day visit to Gujarat. On the first day of the visit, PM launched Mission DefSpace at DEFEXPO 2022 today at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. While addressing the DEFEXPO he said this Defence expo is a symbol of new beginnings. It is the first Defence expo where only Indian companies are participating with Made in India Defence products. Space technology in India is helping many developing countries. SAARC satellite is an example of this. Space technology is supporting maritime trade and activities.

AIR correspondent reports that special incentives are being offered to MSMEs involved in defence production. Technologies development fund and iDEX have spurred the R&D in defence sector. National security is the primary priority for the government.

Indian Railways is running 211 special trains for the convenience of rail travelers to meet the festival season rush. Special trains have been planned to connect major destinations like Darbhanga, Azamgarh, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Firozpur, Patna, Katihar and Amritsar. Railways has notified additional 32 special services to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for the passengers during this festive season, while 179 special services were notified earlier.

Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will launch the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal - a single window to address the needs of pensioners - at the Anubhav Awards Ceremony being organised by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare in New Delhi tomorrow. The award function is being held to felicitate the awardees for their write-ups for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022.

On the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, DoPPW had launched an online platform titled ‘Anubhav’ in March 2015. It is a means for retiring employees to showcase significant achievements made during their service period. It also provides them with an opportunity to convey information related to their contribution in enhancing the effectiveness of the various government policies.  

President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Dr. Justice DY Chandrachud as the new Chief Justice of India. In a tweet today, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said, Justice Chandrachud's appointment will come into effect from 9th of next month. He will succeed present Chief Justice of India Justice Uday Umesh Lalit.

Justice DY Chandrachud would be the 50th Chief Justice of India. Born in 1959, Justice Chandrachud was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 13th May 2016. Earlier, he served as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court. He had completed his LLB from Campus Law Centre from Delhi University and obtained LLM degree and a Doctorate in Juridical Sciences from Harvard Law School in USA.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 90th Interpol General Assembly at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi today. The four-day General Assembly of INTERPOL will begin today and will conclude on 21st of this month.

Interacting with media in New Delhi yesterday, Interpol Chief Jurgen Stock underlined increase in violence in real and virtual world causing social and economic impact on governments and businesses. Mr Stock said organised crime networks making billions of dollars. Mr Stock said 99 percent of stolen assests remain in criminal hands is of greater concern.

The 12th edition of biennial DefExpo will begin in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, Gujarat today. Live demonstrations showcasing the equipment and skill set of the Armed Forces, DPSUs and Industry will be held during the five-day event.

The theme of 12th DefExpo is ‘Path to Pride’ which is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to transform India into a strong and self-reliant nation by supporting, showcasing and forging partnerships for the Indian Aerospace and Defence manufacturing sectors with Indian as well as global customers, the defence ministry said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan 2022 at Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi today. More than 13 thousand farmers from across the country and around one thousand five hundred Agri Startups will participate in the conference. More than one crore farmers, from various institutions, are also expected to attend the event virtually.

The conference will also witness participation of researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

India is hosting the 90th General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization, INTERPOL from 18th to 21st of October in New Delhi.

The General Assembly is INTERPOL’s supreme governing body, comprising representatives from each of 195 member countries. It meets once a year.

India is one of the oldest members of Interpol and joined the organization in 1949. All member countries of INTERPOL have agreed to ensure and promote the widest possible assistance between all criminal police authorities in the prevention and suppression of ordinary law crimes.
