The government of India’s premier publishing house Publications Division will showcase its publications at the 12-day international book fair to be held at Expo Centre Sharjah, UAE beginning today, November 2. 

The international book fair, being organised by the Sharjah Book Authority will host a stellar group of award-winning authors, intellectuals, and other literary luminaries from around the world. The theme of the year is ‘Spread the Word’.

Zojila Day was commemorated at Zojila War Memorial near Drass on November 1 to celebrate the gallant action by Indian troops in 'Operation Bison' in 1948 which was launched on the icy heights of Zojila pass, the gateway to Ladakh.

The commemoration of the day was marked with a solemn wreath-laying by Commander Dras Warriors of the Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps, to pay homage to the gallant bravehearts, who have etched their names in history by liberating the Zojila pass from Pakistani Intruders.

3 National Unity Day: Income Tax Department launches HARIT Aaykar initiative to create micro forests

The Income Tax Department has launched the HARIT Aaykar initiative on the occasion of National Unity Day to increase greenery and create micro forests.

HARIT is the abbreviation of Hariyali Achievement Resolution by Income Tax. Under this initiative, the Department resolves to increase the green cover by planting trees and creating micro-forests in and around Income Tax Department's buildings and other public areas. IT Department participated enthusiastically in the month-long Special Campaign for Swachhata which ends today.

4 Country celebrates National Unity Day, commemorating birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

The nation pays homage to the unifier of Modern India, Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 147th birth anniversary today. The day is also celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
 
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Home Minister Amit Shah paid floral tribute at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Patel Chowk in New Delhi this morning.

Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena and Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi also paid tributes to Sardar Patel.

5 New Delhi: Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya to inaugurate India Chem 2022 on 2nd November

Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will inaugurate India Chem 2022 on the 2nd of November at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The theme of the event is “Vision 2030: Chemicals and Petrochemicals Build India”.  

India Chem 2022 will showcase the Government’s policy for sustainable growth in the sector and provide a platform for national and international players to interact, exchange knowledge and forge alliances. 6 PM Modi dedicates two railway projects worth over Rs 2900 crores in Ahmedabad

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has said that with the conversion of the 300 km long rail line from Asarwa to Udaipur into broad gauge, the tribal areas of Gujarat and Rajasthan will be connected to Delhi and North India. Addressing the gathering after dedicating, two railway projects to the nation worth over  2900 crores Rupees at Asarva, Ahmedabad the Prime Minister said now, direct rail connectivity has also been established between the tourist places of Kutch and the tourist places of Udaipur.

This will give a big boost to the tourist places of Kutch, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, and Nathdwara. He noted that traders in the region will also get the benefit of connecting directly to big industrial centres like Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. “Especially, the tiles industry of Himatnagar will get a lot of help. The Prime Minister highlighted that the entire route has been rejuvenated and the meter gauge line from Asarwa to Udaipur via Himmatnagar has been converted into a broad gauge.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, the arid region of North Gujarat has witnessed a massive transformation in the last 20 years following the constant efforts of the government towards water conservation.

Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for various water supply projects worth over 8000 crore rupees at Tharad in Banaskantha today the Prime Minister said the water conservation projects to begin in the region will help irrigation over one thousand villages of the six districts of North Gujarat.

President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the India Water Week in Greater Noida today. Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation is organising the seventh edition of India Water Week from today till the 5th of November in an effort to raise awareness, conserve and use water resources in an integrated manner.

The platform will be used to elicit ideas and opinions from global level decisions makers, politicians, researchers, and entrepreneurs. The theme is 'Water Security for Sustainable Development and Equity'. The event will bring together experts, planners and stake holders from across the globe.

9 Second edition of Naval Commanders' Conference of 2022 begins in New Delhi

The second edition of Naval Commanders' Conference of 2022 begins today in New Delhi.

During the Four-day conference, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address and interact with the Naval Commanders on matters pertaining to national security. The Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and the Chiefs of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force would also interact with the Naval Commanders.

During the conference, the Chief of the Naval Staff, along with other Naval Commanders will review major Operational, Material, Logistics, Human Resource Development, Training and Administrative activities undertaken by the Indian Navy in the last few months. They will further deliberate upon future plans for important activities and initiatives. The conference would also dwell upon the dynamics of the geostrategic situation of the region and the Navy’s readiness to deal with the same.

10 Three flights connecting five cities of Northeast inaugurated under UDAN scheme

In a major boost to air connectivity in the region, three flights connecting five cities of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur and Mizoram has been inaugurated union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. A flight connecting Imphal and Aizawl under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) UDAN will operate five times a week, while a flight connecting Shillong and Lilabari will operate four times a week. A flight connecting Lilabari and Ziro will operate twice a week.
