1 India to take over Chair of Global Partnership on AI from France

India will take over the Chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence, GPAI from France today, November 21. Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar will represent the country at the GPAI meeting in Tokyo for the symbolic takeover from France. This development comes on the heels of assuming the Presidency of the G20, a league of the world’s largest economies.

GPAI is an international initiative to support responsible and human-centric development and the use of Artificial Intelligence. AIR correspondent reports that the GPAI is a congregation of 25 member countries, including the US, UK, European Union, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, and Singapore.

2 Arun Goel assumes charge as new Election Commissioner of India

Arun Goel has assumed charge as the new Election Commissioner of India. President  Droupadi Murmu has appointed Mr. Goel, a retired IAS officer as the new Election Commissioner. The post of 3rd Election Commissioner remained vacant after the then Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar took the charge of Chief Election Commissioner in May this year.

Taking part in the inaugural ceremony this morning, the Minister congratulated the 75 young film talent who have been selected from across the country. He said that the young talent has a bright future and they will take wings after today.

President Droupadi Murmu has congratulated ISRO, IN-SPACe and Skyroot Aerospace for the country's first-ever private launch of the Vikram Suborbital rocket. In a tweet today, President said, this is a proud moment for the country as the rocket Vikram-S, India's first privately made rocket was successfully launched today by ISRO. She said, the rocket Vikram-S demonstrates India’s scientific prowess and capabilities of the country's private space industry.

5 Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh inaugurates SARAS AAJEEVIKA MELA, 2022 at India International Trade Fair in New Delhi

Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh has said that the government is trying to connect around 10 crore women with self-help groups by 2024. Mr. Singh said this while inaugurating SARAS AAJEEVIKA MELA, 2022 at India International Trade Fair in New Delhi today. He said, currently around 8.7 crore women are connected with self-help groups. Mr. Singh said, women self Help Group will play a major role in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of a five trillion dollar economy.

SARAS Mela is an initiative by Deendayal Antayodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission to bring the rural women self-help group members in one platform to showcase their skills. It also provides national level exposure to understand the demand and taste of urban customers in metro cities.

The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) will organise 'Swachhta Run' across rural India tomorrow to mark the World Toilet Day. The theme of this year World Toilet Day is Making the Invisible Visible.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti has directed states and union territories to conduct the Swachhta Run at the Gram Panchayat level and involving local heroes, Swachhagraha, ASHA workers, volunteers, youth, school children and local folk artists.

7 NESTS & 1M1B signs MoU to conduct training & capacity-building programs for teachers & students of EMRSs

National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) and 1 Million For 1 Billion Foundation (1M1B)  has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct training and capacity-building programs for teachers and students of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs).

In a statement the Ministry of Tribal Affair said, that the program will also capacitate the teachers and students with Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) skills using the AR-VR skills curriculum launched by CBSE.

8 PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Donyi Polo Airport at Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Donyi Polo Airport at Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh this morning. It is the first Greenfield Airport in the state. It is equipped with ultra-modern facilities to ensure all-weather operations. The name of the airport is given after Donyi and Polo, i.e. Sun and Moon.  

Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a social media post said that the airport will ensure seamless connectivity and ease of access to Itanagar. He said it will give a big boost to trade and tourism and will have a catalytic impact on the economy of Arunachal Pradesh. Apart from inaugurating the airport, Mr. Modi will also dedicate the 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station to the nation.

9 ISRO successfully launches first ever private Rocket from Sriharikota

India's first ever private  Vikram Suborbital rocket was launched at 11 30 today from  the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. The rocket reached an altitude of 89.5 km with three payloads weighing a total of 83 kilogram.

The rocket safely splashed in the waters of the Bay of Bengal at around 115 km after the lift-off from Sriharikota. Praram, the mission of the rocket has the payloads from Space Kidz India, Bazoomq Armenia and N-Space Tech India and are equipped with sensors for the measurement of acceleration, pressure and others.
