Mahavir Jayanti is being celebrated across the country today. It is one of the most important religious festivals of the Jain community.

Also known as Mahavir Janma Kalyanak, the day celebrates the birth of Lord Mahavir, the twenty-fourth and the last Tirthankara of the present Avasarpini.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has greeted people on the occasion. In his message, Mr Dhankhar said, Bhagwan Mahavir’s teachings inspire everyone to lead a life of purity, kindness and righteousness.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed happiness over Sagar Setu, the mobile app of National Logistics Portal-Marine. In reply to the tweet by Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, the Prime Minister said that he is happy to see tech being leveraged for port-led development and to ensure Ease of Doing Business.

Mr. Sonowal had inagurated the Sagar Setu Mobile App on Friday. The app has been envisaged with deliverables covering several features including Login Module, Service Catalogue, Common Application Format, Letter of Credit and others.

3 Registrations of second phase for Yuva Sangam begin for participation

The Registration of the second phase for Yuva Sangam has started yesterday through an online portal. It envisages participation of one thousand youngsters from 23 States and Union Territories of the country, so far.

The Ministry of Education said that under the initiative, a group of 45 to 50 youngsters will be sent to the paired State for the exposure tour.

The tours will be conducted this and next month. The Ministry said, the tour will provide an immersive, multidimensional experience of various facets to the youngsters.

4 Sudesh Dhankhar, wife of VP Jagdeep Dhankhar, awarded Ph.D for her work on ground water conservation

Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar has been awarded Ph.D in Economics for her work on sustainable development and ground water conservation in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan.

The doctorate degree on "Sustainable Development - Assessment of Sustainability of Groundwater Resource and Irrigated Agriculture in Jhunjhunu District, Rajasthan" was awarded to the second lady of India at a Convocation Ceremony on Sunday, at Banasthali Vidhyapith by Kalraj Mishra, Hon'ble Governor of Rajasthan.

Smt Dhankhar, a native of water stressed Rajasthan state, has been actively involved in the field of water conservation, apart from working on other social issues such as women empowerment and minimizing food wastage.

5 ISRO successfully carries out Re-usable Launch Vehicle Autonomous Landing Mission

The Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO has successfully carried out the Reusable Launch Vehicle Autonomous Landing Mission in Karnataka.

The test of Reusable Launch Vehicle RLV LEX was conducted at the Aeronautical Test Range in Chitradurga in the early hours today.

A Chinook Helicopter of the Indian Air Force carried the launch vehicle to a height of 4.5 kms and released it in mid-air.

ISRO joined by DRDO and Indian Air Force successfully conducted the Reusable Launch Vehicle Autonomous Landing Mission at the Aeronautical Test Range (ATR), Chitradurga in Karnataka in the wee hours on Sunday. In reply to the tweets by ISRO on this, the Prime Minister called it a great team effort. He said this achievement takes India one step closer to realising an Indian Reusable Launch Vehicle.

8 PM Modi to inaugurate Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of CBI in New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today at 12 noon in New Delhi.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister will confer President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Gold Medal for Best Investigating Officers of CBI. Prime Minister will also inaugurate newly constructed office complexes of CBI at Shillong, Pune, and Nagpur. He will release a Postage Stamp and  Commemorative Coin marking the Diamond Jubilee Celebration year of CBI. He will also launch the Twitter handle CBI.

9 G20 Science Summit on Clean Energy for Greener Future to begin at Agartala in Tripura

The two-day Science-20 conference under India's G20 presidency will begin today at Agartala in Tripura. Around 75 delegates have arrived for a science conclave titled 'clean energy for green future' as part of the G20 meetings. 

It is indeed a momentous occasion for a state like Tripura to host the delegates of the G20, and present itself on a global map. The Science conference that will begin today at the Hapania International fairground will have nine sessions on various topics. Delegates from Bangladesh are also attending the event as invitee members. Yesterday, after their arrival via a special chartered flight, the delegates were welcomed by cultural troupes at various places on their way from airport to the hotel. Later they visited the Albert Ekka War memorial and paid tributes to the martyrs, besides planted saplings. They then visited Kumari Tilla where they were mesmerised with the musical fountain show.

10 Second G20 EWG meeting to begin in Guwahati

The second G20 Employment Working Group (EWG) meeting will begin today in Guwahati. The city has been decked up for the three-day meeting. The EWG Summit will focus on three key areas of global skill gaps, gig and platform economy & social protection and sustainable financing of social security. Foreign delegates, members from 19 member countries and guest countries, have started arriving in Guwahati. Apart from this, members of some other international organisations will also participate in the meeting.

Today's meeting will start with presentation by Finance Track, Digital Economy Working Group, Education Working Group and activities and accomplishment of entrepreneurship research centre on G20 economies. Cultural programmes at Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre will follow the panel discussion.
