Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of six National Highway projects and 7 ROBs in Rajasthan. Mr. Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of these projects in a program held in Omprakash Jyani Stadium at Pakka Saharan in Hanumangarh district. These projects cost about 2 thousand 50 crores rupees.

2 Preparations in full swing for Khelo India University games that is scheduled on 25th May

In Uttar Pradesh,  preparations for Khelo India University games are in full swing. Today the players from Haryana, Punjab,  Rajasthan, and other parts of the country arrived at Nizamuddin railway station. They will take part in the competitions which will be held in Gautam Budh Nagar.  The Khelo India University games will start on 25th May and conclude on 3rd June. The inaugural function will be held in Lucknow on 25th May in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Chief guest and he will attend the function virtually. These games will be organized at four places in Uttar Pradesh which are Noida Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi.

3 Vice President Dhankhar to inaugurate Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Kerala Legislative Assembly building in Thiruvananthapuram today

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is on a two-day visit to Kerala, will inaugurate the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Kerala Legislative Assembly building in Thiruvananthapuram today. He will also release a souvenir of the Kerala Legislature International Book Festival.

This is Jagdeep Dhankhar's first visit to the state as the Vice President of India. Later today, the Vice President will visit Kannur to meet his teacher, Ms. Rathna Nair, at her residence in Thalassery. Ms. Nair had taught Mr.Dhankhar when he was a student at Sainik School in Chittorgarh.

5 Third G-20 Tourism Working Group meeting to begin today at Srinagar in J&K

In Jammu and Kashmir, the 3rd Tourism Working Group Meeting under India's G20 presidency will begin today in Srinagar. A side event on Film Tourism is scheduled to be held later this afternoon while the inaugural session of the Working Group Meeting will be held tomorrow. 

The meeting will highlight the tourism potential and cultural richness of the region.

6 Italian Open: Daniil Medvedev claims first clay-court title of his career as he beat Denmark's Holger Rune in final

In Italian Open final, world number three tennis star Daniil Medvedev clinched his maiden claycourt title after beating Holger Rune last night.

In the men's singles final, the Russian beat the 20-year-old Danish player 7-5, 7-5. It is Medvedev's fifth title of 2023 and victory lifts him above Novak Djokovic to second in the world rankings.

Overall he captured 20 career titles. He will also be the second seed at the French Open, which starts at Roland Garros on 28th of this month.

7 Indian athlete Shaili Singh bags bronze medal at Golden Grand Prix 2023 athletics meet in Japan

Indian athlete Shaili Singh clinched a bronze medal at the Golden Grand Prix 2023 athletics meet in the women's long jump event in Yokohama, Japan.

Last night, Shaili Singh attempted a jump of 6.65 meter, which provided her third place on the podium at the Yokohama meet, a World Athletics Continental Tour gold label event.

Germany’s Maryse Luzolo won the gold medal with an effort of 6.79 meter while Australia’s Brooke Buschkuehl bagged the silver medal with a 6.77 meter leap.

8 RBI clarifies, 10 notes of Rs 2000 can be exchanged at a time from bank without obtaining any requisition slip

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has said on Sunday that people can exchange ten notes of two thousand rupees at a time from the bank without obtaining any requisition slip. RBI further clarified, the people will also not be required to submit their identity proof at the time of exchange for upto a limit of twenty thousand rupees.

RBI has said members of the public may deposit two thousand rupees banknotes into their bank accounts or exchange them into banknotes of other denominations at any bank branch by 30th September this year.. The two thousand rupees notes, however, will continue to be legal tender.

10 Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and K V Viswanathan sworn in as Supreme Court judges

Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and senior advocate K V Viswanathan were sworn in as judges of the Supreme Court today. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud.
 
With this, the working strength of Supreme Court has reached its sanctioned judge strength of 34. It was working with 32 judges following the retirement of Justices Dinesh Maheshwari and M R Shah. The Supreme Court Collegium headed by the Chief Justice had recommended their names on 16th May after which the government approved it and notified their appointments yesterday.
