In Khelo India University games, Savitribai Phule Pune University conquered their final quest with a 2-0 victory over defending champions Osmania University to clinch their first Gold medal in the women’s tennis event in Ekana International Tennis Stadium Lucknow.

Meanwhile, women tennis players of Jain University outdid the University of Madras 2-0 to clinch the bronze medal.

Defending champions Anna University had to sweat it out against Bharthiar University as it went to a decider double where ultimately they pulled off a win in the super tie-break.

2 ISRO successfully launches its next-generation navigational satellite - NVS-1 from Sriharikota

ISRO's GSLV f 12 rocket with NVS - 01 satellite was successfully launched at 10.42 from Sriharikota today. The rocket lifted off from the second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre and injected NVS -01 satellite in its geosynchronous orbit. 

The satellite weighing 2232 kilograms is the first of the second-generation satellites envisaged for the Navigation with Indian Constellation series.

3 India has emerged as world’s 5th largest economy in 9 years besides, being fastest-growing economy: Union Minister Anurag Thakur

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Sports &Youth Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur said that our Government has made various welfare programmes and schemes for weaker sections. Forty-eight crore bank accounts were opened and two lakh crore rupees have been deposited in banks. 

Addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad today, on Nine years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Government at the Centre, Mr. Thakur said, our Government has provided 3.5 crore Pakka makan for the poor of which 75 percent were kept reserved for women. Talking about the Ujjwala Yojana, the Minister informed that the Modi Government has provided 31 crores and 36 lakhs of gas connections to date.

4 India is now world's second-largest mobile manufacturer after China due to pro-industrial policies by Centre: Jal Shakti Minister

Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said today that the Modi government has made India self-reliant in various sectors like defence, vaccine production and mobile manufacturing.
 
Mr. Shekhawat was addressing the media in Patna on the achievement of nine years of the Modi Government. He said, due to policies and programmes of the Modi government, India is now making defence equipment in the country, which was earlier imported.

5 ISRO to launch Chandrayaan-3 in July this year

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman S. Somanath has said that Chandrayaan-3 will be launched in July this year. He was speaking after the successful launch of the second-generation navigation satellite NSV-01 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota yesterday.

He said, the target is to launch Chandrayaan-3 in July in the time slot based on orbital parameters, and the ISRO is working towards that end.

Uttar Pradesh Hockey won the 13th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship 2023 yesterday after defeating the Hockey Association of Odisha in the Final at the iconic Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium, Odisha.

Meanwhile, Hockey Haryana beat Hockey Madhya Pradesh to finish third in the competition.

Uttar Pradesh Hockey won the tournament by defeating the Hockey Association of Odisha 7-1. Ujjwal Pal converted three penalty corners, while Rahul Yadav , Ketan Kushwaha  Rahul Rajhbar  and Team Captain Ajeet Yadav each scored a goal to secure their victory.
