He emphasised that the Games would serve as a catalyst for the overall growth and development of the existing sports ecosystem in Goa.

2 Indian Men's Senior Football Team beat Lebanon 2-0 to clinch Intercontinental Cup in Bhubaneshwar

Indian men's senior football team clinched the Intercontinental Cup with a 2-0 victory over Lebanon in the final at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar yesterday.

The first half was goalless while in the second half, the hosts made it 1-0 in the 46th-minute with Indian captain Sunil Chhetri's goal. Lallianzuala Chhangte netted the second goal in the 65th -minute, making it 2-0.  This is India's second title in the tournament, following their win in the inaugural edition in 2018. Korea won in 2019.

3 Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar to confer 4th National Water Awards in New Delhi

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will confer upon the fourth National Water Awards in New Delhi today, June 17. The Jal Shakti Ministry has announced a total of 41 winners, covering 11 categories, including joint winners, for the fourth National Water Awards, 2022. Each award winner will be conferred with a citation and a trophy as well as cash prizes.

Madhya Pradesh will be awarded the first prize in the best state category. In the best district category, the award will be given to Ganjam District of Odisha. The best Village Panchayat award will be presented to Jagannadhapuram Village Panchayat, Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana

4 Rajasthan, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu emerge Top Achievers in Wind Energy Adoption

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India joined the worldwide celebrations of 15th June as Global Wind Day, through the organization of a day-long event in New Delhi today, 15th June, 2023. 8 Oscar-winning actor Glenda Jackson passes away

Glenda Jackson, a two-time Academy Award-winning performer who had a second career in politics as a British lawmaker before an acclaimed late-life return to stage and screen, has died at age 87.

Jackson’s agent Lionel Larner said she died Thursday at her home in London after a short illness. He said she had recently completed filming The Great Escaper, in which co-starred with Michael Caine.

Born into a working-class family 1936 in Birkhenhead, northwest England, Glenda Jackson trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company and became one of the biggest British stars of the 1960s and 70s, and won two Academy Awards, for Women in Love in 1971 and A Touch of Class in 1974.

10 ‘Didn’t know how to ride a bicycle’: Archana Atram, Maharashtra state Transport’s first woman driver, on her journey

Last week, after she drove the state transport bus from Saswad to Nira, a distance of about 35 km, Archana Atram (30) became the first woman driver in the history of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). Although the MSRTC had been reserving seats for women for all posts, including drivers, for a long time, they would remain vacant and later get allotted to male job seekers.

Atram is among six women drivers who have joined the MSRTC staff last week. She hails from a village in Kinwat taluka in Nanded district.
