1 37th Hyderabad Sailing Week -2023 & Laser National Championship concludes at Secunderabad, Telangana

The 37th Hyderabad Sailing Week -2023 and Laser National Championship concluded on a grand note at Secunderabad Sailing Club last evening. Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has presented prizes to the winners under various categories of the championship. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor complimented Lt Gen J S Sidana and his team for the immaculate conduct of such a mega event. 

The Governor also complimented the organising associations, the EME Sailing Association, the Laser Class Association of India (LCAI) and Secunderabad Sailing Club for the smooth conduct of the event as also for their yeoman services in promoting the sport of sailing in the country and Hyderabad in particular. She called upon the budding sailors to bring laurels to the nation in the coming years.

2 Union Minister for Fisheries inaugurates exhibition on fisheries start-ups and fish cooperatives

National fish farmers day is being celebrated today. Union Minister for fisheries Parshottam Rupala inaugurated the celebrations, at Mahabalipuram near Chennai, by opening an exhibition on fisheries start ups and fish cooperatives. Union Minister of State for fisheries L.Murugan and Union Minister of State Dr. Sanjeev K Balyan were present at the inauguration. State Minister of fisheries Anitha Radhakrishnan was also present at the inauguration. They interacted with the exhibitors at the venue. The Minister will virtually inaugurate fisheries projects and also virtually interact with the fisher folks at the inaugural sites today. The two-day celebrations will also have an assessment of Indian Council of Agricultural Research initiatives and discussion with fisheries departments of various states.

3 3rd G20 Culture Working Group meeting begins in Hampi, Karnataka

The Third G20 Culture Working Group meeting began in Hampi, a world heritage site in the gracious presence of Union Parliamentary Affairs minister Prahlad Joshi. The two days deliberations today and tomorrow will evolve consensus on four themes proposed under the Indian Presidency that will become part of the ministerial declaration during the fourth Culture Working Group meeting to be held in Varanasi on August 26th.  In his remarks, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi said that the critical perspective of G20 member countries on four priority areas proposed by India will enlighten the path to the future.

4 This IIT-IIM alumnus emerges as Tata Group's ‘highest-paid’ CFO

According to the annual reports released by multiple Tata Group companies, the salaries of chief executives within the group witnessed a rise of 16 to 60 percent during the previous fiscal year.

As per media reports, the pay of chief financial officers (CFOs) within the group also experienced an increase ranging from 6 to 35 percent. In the fiscal year 2023, the highest-paid Chief Financial Officer (CFO) within the Tata Group is not from CS or Tata Steel. Pathamadai Balachandran Balaji, who assumed the role of CFO at Tata Motors in 2017, has emerged as the highest-earning CFO within the Tata Group for FY23.

5 Indian armed forces to participate in Bastille Day Parade in France

After the Army, 72 personnel of the Indian Air Force and 68 member contingent of the Indian Navy will participate in the Bastille Day parade in France, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest.

A flying contingent of four Rafale fighters, two C-17 Globemasters and 72 IAF personnel departed for Paris on Friday to participate in parade on July 14, an IAF spokesperson said. The IAF marching contingent is commanded by lady officer Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy, an accomplished helicopter pilot.

6 Prime Minister flags off two new Vande Bharat Express trains from Gorakhpur Railway station

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two Vande Bharat Express Trains from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh on 7th July 2023, Friday. The two trains are Gorakhpur-Lucknow and Jodhpur-Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) Vande Bharat Express. Mr. Modi said Vande Bharat trains are the new name of convenient train journeys in the country.
 
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of redevelopment works of the Gorakhpur Railway Station which will be completed at an estimated cost of around 498 crore rupees.

7 Bureau of Water Use Efficiency & Indian Plumbing Association sign MoU with the aim of achieving Water Positive India

The Bureau of Water Use Efficiency (BWUE) and Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) have signed an MoU with the aim of achieving a Water Positive India on 7th July 2023, Friday.

The MoU focuses on creating awareness and promoting rainwater harvesting structures, low-flow fixtures and sanitary ware, treatment of grey and black water, and water audit of the built environment. The signing of the MoU is aligned with Goal-4 of the National Water Mission (NWM) to increase water use efficiency by 20 percent.

The collaboration between NWM and IPA will include public education, awareness and outreach programmes, water stewardship, circular economy of water, rainwater harvesting, aquifer recharge, and reclamation of used water.

8 Delhi Airport to launch first-of-its-kind dual elevated taxiway

The Delhi Airport is set to launch a fourth runway along with a first-of-its-kind dual elevated taxiway that will reduce time spent on the tarmac by flyers before take-off and after landing by 15-20 minutes. While the runway will be inaugurated on July 13, the date of operation for the elevated taxiway is to be decided later.

According to sources from the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the Eastern Cross Taxiways (ECT) will connect the northern and southern airfields and reduce taxi distance for aircraft by 7 km. It will be 2.1-km long and 202-m wide. The ECT will be wide enough to accommodate two aircraft at the same time, including big aircraft such as A-380 and B-777.

9 CM Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurates Uttarakhand's first Himalayan Cultural Center

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated Uttarakhand's first Himalayan Cultural Center built by the Department of Culture at Nebuwala Garhi Cantt, Dehradun on Friday, a press release stated.

The CM said that on the one hand, the Himalayan Cultural Center will present a live picture of the state's rich cultural heritage, while on the other, it will reflect the commitment of the government towards the conservation, promotion, and development of culture.

10 CM Naveen announces investment of Rs 75K crore for water sector

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday announced investment of Rs 75,000 crore in the next five years for development of water sector in the state. Felicitating the water resources team of the state and Ganjam district for being conferred national water awards, the chief minister said the government has approved projects worth Rs 46,000 crore in the last four years for development of the sector.

The chief minister, however, asked the Water Resources department to formulate strategies and build climate resilient sustainable infrastructure to make Odisha a water secure state at the earliest. He said all collectors should take up water conservation measures on a large scale as is being done by the Ganjam collector to meet the water requirement of their respective districts.
