An anti-caste discrimination bill has been passed by the California State Assembly that seeks to combat caste discrimination and strengthen protections for marginalised communities across the State.

The bill was passed by the Assembly on August 28. It now heads to Governor Gavin Newsom for his signature to make it into law, making California the first U.S. state to add caste as a protected category in its anti-discrimination laws.

Meet the new Miss Earth India 2023, Priyan Sain clinched the title of Miss Earth India 2023 during the Miss Divine Beauty 2023 national final held on August 26 in New Delhi.

The 20-year-old student, dancer, and taekwondo player from Jaipur, Rajasthan succeeds last year's winner Vanshika Parmar, and will now prepare to represent India at the Miss Earth 2023 pageant in Vietnam this December.

She received her crown from reigning Miss Earth from Korea Mina Sue Choi who was invited as a special guest along with Miss Earth Air from Australia Sheridan Mortlock.

5 Miss World 2023 to be held in Kashmir

PME entertainment on Tuesday rejected the claims of Kashmir being the host of the 71st edition of Miss World in December.

“On behalf of the Miss World Organisation, we would like to strongly state that news of the main Miss World 2023 Finale is being held in Kashmir is unfounded and incorrect. As officially announced by PME Entertainment and Miss World organisation, the venue for the finale is to be finalised and will be announced officially at a later date,” Jamil Saidi, Chairman PME Entertainment said.

Earlier media reports stated that Kashmir would be hosting 71st edition of Miss World contest.

8 G20 workshop on One Health-Opportunities & Challenges begins in Bengaluru

Union minister of state for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated G20 One Health workshop in Bengaluru today. 9 Union Minister Nitin Gadkari launches world's first 100% Ethanol-fueled car in New Delhi

In a major move towards reducing carbon dioxide emission and improving fuel efficiency in vehicles, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari today launched the world's first 100 percent Ethanol-fueled car in New Delhi.

Mr. Gadkari termed this day as historic saying that the world's first BS-VI (Stage-II), electrified flex-fuel vehicle has been launched which can function fully on ethanol-based fuel. Raising concern over the pollution emitted by vehicles, the Minister said, the country needs to undertake more sustainable and stringent measures to curb pollution. He stressed that the country has to reduce its dependence on oil imports in order to become self-reliant. Highlighting the importance of ethanol blended fuel, he said, country’s agriculture sector will witness growth with the adoption of this move and it will generate lots of job opportunities.
