1 Cashfree Payments partners with Jamboree to simplify international fee payments for Indian Students

Cashfree Payments, a leading payments and API banking solutions company, has partnered with Jamboree, a leading educational consultancy, to simplify fee payments for Indian students studying overseas. The partnership leverages Cashfree Payments' cross-border payment solution, which streamlines and digitises the entire payment process from KYC verification, payment collection, to outward remittance. It eliminates the need for physical bank visits, offline KYC submission and verification, providing students with a convenient, fast, cost-effective, and transparent payment experience.

With this partnership, students can initiate transactions 24/7, even on weekends and holidays, providing them with flexibility. It enables students to make remittances under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) established by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), catering to a wide range of payment needs permitted by regulations, including admission fees, education rental payments, student maintenance expenses, Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) payments for students heading to Canada, as well as blocked account payments for students bound for Germany. Further, it also substantially reduces the forex mark-up, rendering the transactions cheaper for Indian students. Students can also track the status of the remittance, from KYC verification status, payment confirmation, remittance initiation to the stage of downloading SWIFT copy.

2 Nagaland govt announces Saturday to be a holiday for all schools

The Nagaland government announced Saturday to be a holiday for all schools in the State. This was announced by Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome during the State-level Teacher’s Day celebration in Kohima on Tuesday. He said, Saturdays will be strictly observed as Holidays, as teachers need time for their family while children need time and an environment outside the classroom for holistic development.

Dr. Yhome also announced that the Department will make it mandatory for all to have a School Children Health Card in collaboration with the Health Department from next year, allowing every child to get medical attention at the doorstep of their school.

5 World's tallest Nataraja statue installed at G20 summit venue

The world's tallest Nataraja statue has been installed at Bharat Mandapam, the venue of the G20 summit in Delhi. The 28-foot-tall statue weighing 20 tonnes was made in a record time of seven months by sculptor Radhakrishnan Sthapathy and his team at Swamimalai in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. The statue was built in Ashtadhatu (8 metals) using the traditional casting method. The statue was transported to the national capital in four days and a special green corridor was created for its transportation.

The Indian men’s table tennis team assured itself of a bronze medal at the Asian Championships by defeating Singapore 3-0 in the quarterfinals held on Monday.

The opening singles match between veteran Sharath Kamal and Izaac Quek was a closely fought battle, with the 41-year-old Indian ultimately winning 11-1, 10-12, 11-8, 11-13, 14-12.

8 Gujarat Declaration focuses on global commitments towards indigenous knowledges & traditional medicine

World Health Organization (WHO) has released the outcome document of first WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit 2023 in form of “Gujarat Declaration”.

It is worth noting that first global summit on Traditional Medicine was organised by the WHO and co-hosted by the Ministry of Ayush, from August 17-18, 2023, at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The action points are based on the evidence, discussions and outcomes presented at the Summit. Deliberation were done on varied topics like Health and well-being of people and the planet, research and evidence, universal health coverage, primary health care and health systems, Data & routine information systems, digital health frontiers, biodiversity and sustainability, human rights, equity and ethics.

9 Lokesh Suji elected to IESF membership committee for three-year term

The General Body of the International Esports Federation (IESF) has elected Lokesh Suji, director, the Esports Federation of India (ESFI) and vice-president, the Asian Esports Federation (AESF), to its membership committee on a three-year term. 10 Second edition of Naval Commanders' Conference, 2023 to begin in New Delhi

The second edition of Naval Commanders' Conference, 2023 will begin today in New Delhi. The conference is the apex-level biannual event facilitating interaction between the Naval Commanders for deliberation and formulation of important policy decisions. During the three-day Conference, being conducted in a Hybrid format, the senior leadership of the Indian Navy will review major operational, materiel, logistics, training, and administrative activities undertaken during the previous six months.

The Conference will provide an opportunity for institutionalised interaction of Naval Commanders with senior Government officials to take ahead several inter-ministerial initiatives toward the development of a safe and secure maritime environment. The Commanders will also review the ongoing Naval projects with a focus on enhancing indigenisation through Make in India in consonance with the vision of achieving self-reliance by 2047.
