Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Lakshmibai Newalkar, the Rani of Jhansi, on her birth anniversary on Sunday.

Remembering her bravery, PM Modi took to the social media platform 'X' and said, "My heartfelt tribute to Rani Lakshmibai, the symbol of the bravery of Indian women power, on her birth anniversary. The story of his courage, struggle and sacrifice against the atrocities of foreign rule will continue to inspire every generation of the country."

Rani Laxmibai, popularly known as Queen of Jhansi, played an important role during India's first war of independence (1857-58).

Rani Laxmibai, one of the leading figures of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, was born on November 19, 1828.

2 42nd Edition of India International Trade Fair opens for public in Delhi

The 42nd Edition of the India International Trade Fair going on at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi opened for the public from Sunday. The fair will remain open for all till the 27th of November. This year, the theme of the fair is based on Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which emphasizes on the significance of interconnectedness and cooperation in trade.
 
Representatives of 13 countries are also displaying their products in the fair. Our correspondent reports that Bihar and Kerala are the Partner States of the Fair, while Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh are the Focus States.

3 India and Australia to hold second two plus two Defence and Foreign Ministerial Dialogue in New Delhi

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar will hold the second India-Australia two plus two Dialogue with Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles and Foreign Minister Penny Wong in New Delhi today. The Ministers are expected to discuss a wide range of strategic, defence and security issues. These discussions would cover bilateral, regional and global matters of mutual interest, to further advance cooperation under the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Both sides will also exchange views on shared priorities for strengthening minilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Raksha Mantri is also scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with his counterpart who had last visited India in June last year within a few weeks of assuming his present office. Dr. Jaishankar and his Australian counterpart will hold the 14th Foreign Ministerial Framework Dialogue on 21st November to take stock of cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

5 Dr. Mohamed Muizzu sworn in as eighth President of Maldives

Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been sworn in as the eighth President of the Republic of Maldives in a ceremony held at the Republic Square in the capital Male’. Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef also took an oath of office. Their oath was administered by Chief Justice of the Maldives, Ahmed Muthasim Adnan.

Dr. Muizzu had defeated outgoing President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the runoff elections held in September. Apart from Mr. Solih, former Presidents, Mohamed Nasheed and Dr. Mohamed Waheed also attended the ceremony while opposition leader Abdulla Yameen chose not to attend.

The new Cabinet will be sworn in and presented with letters of appointment in a ceremony scheduled later today evening at the President's Office.

7 Bina Agarwal wins Kenneth Boulding Award

Agarwal, Professor of Development Economics and Environment at the Global Development Institute, University of Manchester, and ex-director of the Institute of Economic Growth (Delhi), was conferred the award jointly with David Barkin, a professor at the Metropolitan University in Mexico City. The International Society for Ecological Economics said Agarwal was recognised for her significant contributions to Ecological Economics, with focus on environmental governance, agrarian change, and social equity in developing countries.

10 Culture Ministry to organize India Art, Architecture and Design Biennale at Red Fort, New Delhi

The Culture Ministry will organize India Art, Architecture, and Design Biennale at Red Fort to provide a global platform for the promotion of arts and the artist fraternity. The Biennale will be inaugurated on 8th of next month and several events will be held from 9th to 15th of December.

Addressing the media in New Delhi today, Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi said, the biennale will have the participation of traditional artisans, contemporary designers, curators, and thought leaders. She said, the Biennale is an innovative initiative to celebrate the rich tapestry of country's artistic heritage, spanning ancient, modern, contemporary, and tech-driven art, architecture and design.

Public art installations, art bazaars, and cultural programs will be the major attractions of the Biennale. Pavilions set up as part of Biennale will remain on display till 31st March of next year. The curated pavilions at the event will showcase a fascinating journey through diverse aspects of India's cultural heritage.
