World Homeopathy Day is celebrated annually on April 10. The day offers an opportunity to explore and hold discussions on alternative medical systems. Homeopathic practitioners and users commemorate the day with the aim to spread the possible advantages of using homeopathic medicine.

The day serves as a global platform to make people aware about the principles and benefits of homeopathic medicine. Homeopathic medicine mainly prioritises the inherent capacity for self-healing capacity of the human body. On the occasion of World Homeopathy Day, the researchers and practitioners meet to highlight the contribution of homeopathic medicine in the healthcare sector.

Air India has announced the appointment of Jayaraj Shanmugam as the new head of its global airport operations, effective from April 15. In a statement released on Monday, the Tata Group-owned airline disclosed that Shanmugam will be reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, Captain Klaus Goersch.

Shanmugam brings with him a wealth of experience in airport operations, having previously served as the Chief Operating Officer at Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL). During his tenure at BIAL, he played a pivotal role in overseeing the operational launch of the new Terminal 2, demonstrating his leadership and operational prowess in managing airport infrastructure.

India is helping Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Mauritius develop early warning systems to reduce the loss of life and property due to extreme weather events, IMD chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra has said.

In a conversation with PTI editors, Mr. Mohapatra, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General, said India will play the role of a big brother and a peer advisor to Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Mauritius in the efforts to guard against the impact of extreme weather events.

India's efforts are part of the 'Early Warnings for All' initiative announced by the United Nations in 2022 to ensure that everyone is protected from hazardous weather, water or climate events through life-saving early warning systems by the end of 2027.

Tata Advanced Systems (TASL), Tata Sons' wholly-owned subsidiary, has launched India’s first private sector-built sub-metre resolution earth observation satellite, TSAT-1A, in collaboration with Satellogic. The satellite was launched from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, by SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on April 7. The satellite was assembled at TASL’s facility in Karnataka. Elon Musk's SpaceX launched a total of 11 satellites in its maiden Bandwagon flight.

TSAT-1A will provide high-resolution satellite images with low-latency delivery. The Indian armed forces are expected to be one of its major users. This is the first sub-metre high-resolution earth observation satellite by the private sector in India, according to Sukaran Singh, CEO and MD of TASL.

Indian American golfer Akshay Bhatia prevailed in a playoff to script a dramatic win at the Valero Texas Open and earn a spot at next week's Augusta Masters, which will be his first appearance in a Major.

It was virtually the last spot left at the Augusta Masters and Bhatia claimed it after staving off a serious challenge from Denny McCarthy, who birdied eight of the last nine holes at the TPC San Antonio here.

The win gets Bhatia into the Masters, a wish and promise he had made to his mother years ago.

Zimbabwe has introduced a new gold-backed currency called ZiG - the name stands for "Zimbabwe Gold".

It is the latest attempt to stabilise an economy that has lurched from crisis to crisis for the past 25 years.

Unveiling the new notes, central bank governor John Mushayavanhu said the ZiG would be structured, and set at a market-determined exchange rate.

The ZiG replaces a Zimbabwean dollar, the RTGS, that had lost three-quarters of its value so far this year.

Sumit Nagal on Monday became the first Indian man to win a match in a Masters 1000 tournament on clay. The top-ranked Indian singles player defeated Matteo Arnaldi of Italy in a terrific come-from-behind effort. Nagal won the first round match at the Monte Carlo Masters 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.

The unseeded 95th-ranked Nagal was only the third Indian to feature in the main draw in Monte Carlo after Vijay Amritraj in 1977 and Ramesh Krishanan in 1982. He became the first-ever ATP Masters 1000 match on clay since 1990. The 26-year-old stunned the World No. 38 as he will next face Denmark’s Hoger Rune in the next round on April 9, Tuesday.

Wipro Limited on Saturday announced Srinivas Pallia as its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, effective immediately, according to the exchange filing on BSE.

Pallia will succeed Wipro's former CEO Thierry Delaporte, who stepped down from the post after four years “to pursue passions outside the workplace".

Srinivas Pallia will be based in New Jersey and will report to Wipro's Chairman, Rishad Premji.
